  • Player of the Week: Devonte Williamson

    Helping the Falcons to its first Union County championships since 2010, Ingomar’s Devonte Williamson earns Player of the Week honors, particularly for his performance against East Union.

    Against the Urchins last Friday, Williamson dropped 22 points in the 65-60 semifinal win.
    “He’s our emotional and energy leader on the team,” Ingomar head coach Jonathan Ashley said. “He leads us by example, and he hustles on every play. He’s a hard nosed player and consistently performs well for us.”

    Boasting premier matchups for boys’ basketball in the area, this year’s installment of the Hotbed Classic features eight games and each of the Union County schools and New Albany.

  • Falcons, Lady Bulldogs win UCT championships

    Playing three games in as many nights, fourth seeded Ingomar prevailed on Saturday to win the 2013 Union County Tournament championship after a 68-59 win over New Albany.

  • Union County Tournament: Day 2

    The second night of the Union County Tournament was highlighted by two close match ups on the boys’ side, setting up a rematch of last year’s title game between New Albany and Ingomar.

    The Falcons held on in its semifinal contest against top-seeded East Union, 65-60, despite giving up a double-digit lead in the second half. Sam Cobb put Ingomar ahead by 11, 35-24, to open the third quarter, but late scoring from Vadale Rucker put the Urchins within five, 46-41, to close the frame.

    Ingomar evened its division record after holding on for a 68-62 win at Myrtle on Friday.

    After losing to Coldwater on Tuesday, Falcons coach Jonathan Ashley stressed the importance of not falling to 0-2 in division play, and his team responded, led by a 20 point performance from Devonte Williamson.
