  • Epting leads BMC in TSAC championships

    Led once again by Tuesdae Rowland and Austin Epting, Blue Mountain College raced to a second- and third-place finishes in the TranSouth Athletic Conference Championships here Saturday.
    Rowland finished second to Allison Martin of Union University in the 31-runner women’s  championship, while Epting trailed only Alex Brett and Edwin Kurgat of Union in the 35-runner men’s 8k title race.

  • County teams win district titles

    County teams picked up division titles at the New Albany Sportsplex over the weekend and they now look ahead to the state championships on November 6.
    Myrtle, West Union and East Union swept their division races, winning on both the boys and girls sides. Savanna Shirley and Mallory Newby were the top finishers for West Union, as the Lady Eagles placed seven in the top 10 with 16 total points. Ingomar finished in second place with 47 points and Dana Bramlitt finishing sixth overall.

  • BMC heading to TSAC cross country championship

    Coach Heather Duley has pushed the Blue Mountain College cross country teams hard all season, and she’s not letting up now.
    Heading into Saturday’s TranSouth Athletic Conference cross country championship meets in Jackson, Tenn., Duley is still preaching the gospel of hard work and focus.

  • New Albany defeats Union County football

    The rivalry began Monday night as city and county squared off for the first time in junior varsity action.

  • Union County offense stifled by Indians

    Taking on one of the most physical opponents they will face this season, Union County had an impressive showing, despite falling 20-0 to Byhalia Thursday night.

     

    The Indians struck with 7:38 remaining in the first half, as Vadale Rucker had the ball stripped from him, and Byhalia returned the turnover for their first score.

    Ahead only 8-0, the Indians scored two late touchdowns in the game to go on for the win.

  • Sherman tackles youth football

    When Clark Rowan took over as one of the park directors in Sherman, one of his primary goals was to create a youth tackle football program, targeting Union County.

  • East Union sweeps Union County Championships

    The Urchins are on a roll, and their success this cross country season continued Monday, as East Union swept the Union County Championships.

  • Rowland, Epting named TSAC runners of the week

    Tuesdae Rowland and Austin Epting of Blue Mountain College were named Tuesday the TranSouth Athletic Conference Runners of the Week.
    Rowland, a junior from Ripley, and Epting, a sophomore from Baldwyn and East Union High, were selected after their strong performances in the weekend’s Mississippi College Invitational in Clinton.

  • Defending champs' season comes to an end

    Young and determined, West Union had a strong effort to open their second round series versus Smithvile, but the Lady Eagles could not carry that throughout the day, falling to the Lady Seminoles in three games.

     

    West Union opened the day watching Smithville score four runs off four hits and two Lady Eagle errors. The Lady Eagles stormed right back with three runs in the bottom half of the first, as Bailey Bogue’s sacrifice scored the first run with bases loaded, followed by back-to-back Lady ‘Nole errors.

  • Lady Hawks fall in second round

    When Myrtle entered their second round playoff series, they were paired with a season-long favorite in Wheeler, but the Lady Hawks were confident, knowing this was the same Lady Eagle team they defeated in a similar situation last season.
