    The Hawks scored only one basket in the fourth quarter of their game against Marshall Academy, but it would prove to be the biggest. Heriah Dodson’s last second layup helped give Myrtle the 86-84 win over the Patriots Monday night.

  • Myrtle takes wins over Wheeler

    The Hawks picked up their second straight win of the season behind the hot shooting of Steven Taylor and Keon Hampton, defeating Wheeler 75-48 Monday night.

    Cruz Weatherall helped Myrtle with two three-pointers in the first quarter, but the Eagles held close, keeping it a tied game, 15-15. Hampton stepped up with eight second quarter points to give the Hawks the edge at the half, and Myrtle would put the game away, outscoring Wheeler 24-7 in the third quarter.

    Taylor led with 20 points for Myrtle (2-3), while Hampton added 17 in the win.

  • Jumper leads Ingomar over East Union

    Wesley Jumper is getting the hang of playing at a new school. The senior guard made the move cross-county from West Union to Ingomar and is enjoying the ride with the defending 1A state champions.

    “It was a little different when I first moved over here, but I’ve gotten used to it and I like it,” he said.

    Jumper’s game-high 26 points helped the Falcons pick up their second win of the season, a 93-71 affair over East Union Tuesday night.

  • West Union, East Union battle in Round Robin

    County rivals met up on the final night of the West Union Round Robin, with East Union and the Eagles closing out the tournament with a series split.
    In the girls game, Leah Paige Goolsby finished her fourth game in a row scoring in double figures with the Lady Eagles winning 48-35.
    Trading the lead throughout the first half, the Lady Urchins took a 20-17 lead to the half before being out scored 14-8 in the third.
    Ashley Leach scored all of East Union’s points in the third, finishing with a team-high 13.

  • BMC runners to NAIA Nationals

    Five Blue Mountain College cross country runners will compete in the NAIA National Championships Saturday, Nov. 20 in Vancouver, Wash.

    From BMC are Magan Wilburn, a sophomore from Mooreville; Austin Epting, a sophomore from Baldwyn; Tuesdae Rowland, a junior from Ripley; Emma Baxter, a freshman from Kossuth; and Richard Feist, a junior from Saltillo.

  • Countians recieve slowpitch softball honors

    County rivals took top honors in Division 2-1A slowpitch softball, as West Union senior Leah Paige Goolsby and Myrtle sophomore Jenna Jordan were named Co-Players of the Year by the division coaches.
    Both teams made a run in the playoffs this season, with Goolsby and Jordan leading their respective teams at shortstop.
    The duo were joined by Myrtle head coach Robert Gordon, who earned Coach of the Year honors.

  • Bulldogs open season with win at Ingomar

    The Bulldogs were off to a hot start in their season opener, but Ingomar did not back down, keeping up with New Albany until the final frame of the 'Dawgs 68-58 win Monday night.

    New Albany raced to a 22-13 lead after the first, led by Tadarius Coburn's eight points. The Bulldogs fell cold in the second, and two technical fouls helped bring Ingomar back into the game. Wesley Jumper gave the Falcons their first lead, 27-26, but New Albany would maintain a two-point advantage, 30-28 at the half.
