  • Falcons, Lady Falcons fall short in Myrtle tourney

    Shekera Dawkins lifted the Lady Hawks in the final minutes of their game against Ingomar, leading Holly Springs to a 40-36 win.

    Dawkins scored four points to bring the game within one-point, 33-32, and after a free throw by Dana Bramlitt, Kenyada Burns tied the game, for the first time, at 34.

  • Hawks battle for overtime win

    Robert Montgomery led a 12-0 run in overtime to lead the Hawks over West Oktibbeha, 83-71 in the final game of Myrtle’s Christmas Classic Tuesday night.

    The Timberwolves opened the extra period on a 6-0 run with four points from Dantaveaus Crawford. Montgomery and the Hawks connected on 10-of-11 free throws after that point to regain the lead and earn the win.

  • Ingomar splits on first day of Myrtle Christmas tournament

    The Commodores fought off an early deficit, defeating Ingomar, 54-49, in the Myrtle Christmas Clash on Monday.

    Down 18-8, Brandon Mack scored 10 of Lafayette’s 18 second quarter points to help the ‘Dores go ahead 26-23 at the break. Lafayette used a 10-0 run to start the comeback, and the two teams traded baskets with Lafayette going ahead by as many as four before the half.

    Keeyon Tyson took over for Lafayette in the third quarter, scoring 11 points, 15 overall, and Lafayette held a 43-35 lead heading into the fourth quarter.

  • Gilbert's big game leads Myrtle over third ranked Lafayette

        

     If Aspriona Gilbert’s performance against East Union was uncharacteristic, she broke the slump quickly, leading the Lady Hawks in their win over Lafayette, 66-63 on Monday.

  • Myrtle sweeps East Union

    The Lady Hawks will face one of their toughest opponents in Lafayette on Monday, and Myrtle used their Thursday night match-up against East Union to prepare, defeating the Lady Urchins, 77-24.

    Keanna Cox led Myrtle with 23 points, as she was one of four Lady Hawks that scored in double figures (Halle Knowles 14, Jenna Jordan 13, Meshay Cox 10). Aspriona Gilbert led Myrtle in rebounds with 14.

  • UC schools to compete for cheer/dance finals

    Area cheer and dance squads will travel to Jackson this weekend, vying for state titles in various categories.

  • West Union falls to Mooreville on homecoming

    West Union dropped a tough homecoming match-up against Mooreville, falling 57-49 Saturday night.
    Both teams battled throughout the first quarter, trading the lead, before a 9-0 run by the Lady Toppers gave the visitors the lead, 14-11, capped by a three-pointer near the end of the frame.
    The Lady Eagles cut the deficit to one early in the second, but Mooreville would go ahead by as many as 14 in the quarter, holding on to a 34-20 lead at the half.

  • Exciting games highlight Ingomar's homecoming

    Potts Camp had several opportunities to top Ingomar in their divisional battle Friday night, but the Falcons overcame several obstacles to defeat the Cardinals in overtime, 64-62.

    The Cardinals took a late one-point lead, 55-54 and LaQuain Foster tied the game to send it to the extra period. Once in overtime, Tanner McCollum took over scoring the Falcons’ first three points, and with the help of Foster, Ingomar built a 61-57 lead.

  • Lady Hawks roll to weekend wins

    The Lady Hawks picked up their fifth straight win, earning wins over Ingomar and Hickory Flat over the weekend.

     

    Halle Knowles stepped up for Myrtle in Saturday night’s contest, scoring 28 points enroute to an 83-54 win over the Lady Rebels.
