    Two Union County girls basketball coaching vacancies were filled Monday night with the hiring of Trent Adair at Ingomar and Shelley Parman at East Union, both bringing excitement and a connection from Hatley to Union County.

    Parman joins the Lady Urchins after stints as a junior high coach at Dorsey Attendance Center and Iuka Middle School. Helping to rebuild the tradition at East Union is what excites the first-time high school coach.

    Tadarious Coburn led a Bulldog-laden East All-Star squad in its win over the West, 101-86, on Saturday in Booneville.

  • County softball players take part in all-star event

    Five Union County standouts played the final games of their high school careers on Thursday, participating in the fifth annual Northeast Mississippi Softball Coaches Association All-Star games at Veterans Park in Tupelo.

     

    Danielle Taylor pitched three innings for the West squad, allowing seven hits in the East’s 12-5 win in the fast pitch game.

  • All-Star events slated for this weekend

    Basketball and softball All-Stars are on showcase this weekend, participating in the Northeast Mississippi Softball Coaches Association and Northeast Mississippi Basketball Coaches Association All-Star games in Tupelo and Booneville.
    The slow pitch and fast pitch games took place Thursday night at Veterans Park in Tupelo, featuring five local seniors. Fast pitch opened the evening with West Union’s Danielle Taylor and East Union’s Chelsea Kuhn playing respectively for the West and East squads.

  • Carnell's second chance

    A semester away from the game he loves was enough inspiration to get Zach Carnell back on the court. After starting at Delta State, then transferring to Itawamba Community College in the spring semester, the former Ingomar standout will now take his talents to J.D. Parker’s Blue Mountain College squad.
