  • Myrtle grabs division win over Ingomar

    It was not the big run performance the Lady Hawks have become accustomed to this season, but they will take the division win, defeating Ingomar 3-1 on Tuesday.

  • Lady Urchin sweep

    A strong defensive effort was all East Union needed, picking up four, one-run wins to sweep their slate in the Union County Tournament, winning their second title in three years.

     

    “We won every game by one run, so what does that tell you?” Lady Urchin coach Josh Blythe said. “I’m proud of the kids; we made big plays, fought through several errors. We didn’t play great, but we just did enough to get it done.”

  • Union County drops road game at Mantachie

    Union County faced a tough challenge on Friday, falling 31-6 at Mantachie.

    The game started off with a quick possession by Union County that ended with a punt to Mantachie. The Mustangs promptly drove down the field and scored their first touchdown to take the early lead.

    A fumble on the ensuing kickoff gave the ball back to the Mustangs, and they took advantage of the short field and put in another rushing attempt for a touchdown.

    Union County recorded its lone score on its second drive, aided by a long rush by D.J. Armstrong.

    Amy Fooshee lifted the Lady Falcons in a crucial division win over West Union on Tuesday, giving Ingomar the 8-7 win.

    Hitting the field once more after a close loss to Biggersville last week, Union County prepares for a three-game road slate, beginning with Mantachie on Friday.

  • Biggersville rallies to top Union County

    In their first home varsity game, Union County was unable to hold on to a two touchdown advantage, falling 32-30 to Biggersville Friday night.

     

    Down 7-6, Union county scored 16 straight to take a 22-7 lead to the half. Biggersville mounted a comeback in he fourth, taking the 25-22 lead with five minutes remaining, and a fumble by UC on their ensuing drive allowed Biggersville to go ahead by 10 points, 32-22. Union County added their final score with 2:36 remaining.

  • UC to host Biggersville in home opener

    Scott Duley’s team has had the advantage of spending two weeks preparing for the next opponent, and they will hit the field again on Friday, hosting Biggersville.

  • Ingomar run rules Lady Rebels at home

    Putting together one of their better performances, Ingomar handed Hickory Flat a 13-0 setback on Tuesday, taking advantage of 11 walks from Lady Rebel pitchers.

    East Union picked up a big win against softball powerhouse Smithville, 4-0, as part of the 13th annual Robertson’s Sportswear Tournament, held at the New Albany Sportsplex.

  • Lady Eagles hold on for win at Hickory Flat

    It is still early season, but the Lady Eagles are feeling the heat, not only in competition, but literally, with the weather. After defeating Hickory Flat 15-0 on Tuesday, West Union held on for a 13-7 win on the road against the same Lady Rebel squad on Thursday.

     

    “We’re exhausted, and that’s bad this early in the season, but the heat has drained us,” West Union coach Lisa Bogue said. “I don’t think they were taking the team for granted, there was just no energy to do the extra things.”
