    Union County’s third season came to an end Friday night with the team taking a tough 49-30 loss into the offseason.

  • UC prepares for season finale

    Union County will close out its season this evening, facing off in what they are calling their rivalry game.
    Traveling to Byhalia, UC will take on Potts Camp, winners of its last two games.
    “They’ve improved and made adjustments since their early season losses, so their personnel is where they want them to be, and they’ve improved on defense a lot,” UC coach Scott Duley said.“They have a solid defense that has posted two straight shutouts, and that’s something we’re having to prepare to face.”

  • Lady Urchins end season against Hamilton

    Two close battles ended the Lady Urchins’ season, as they suffered a second round series sweep to Hamilton, 8-6 and 4-2 on Saturday.

     

    “The kids know who they were up against, and after falling by two runs in the first game, it kind of sucked the life out us,” East Union coach Josh Blythe said. “I told the girls that sometimes you get beat, and you have to tip your hat.”

  • Lady Hawks advance to north half finals

    Myrtle coach Robert Gordon wanted to see better hitting from his team in its second round match-up on Saturday, and he got that, as the Lady Hawks pounded out 31 runs en route to wins of 10-0 and 21-0 over Ray Brooks.

     

  • UC earns second win of the season

    Early miscues could not slow Union County down, as they earned the second win of the season, 40-8, at New Site on Friday.

    Three turnovers plagued UC early on, but the play of Broderick Montgomery helped lead the team to a 28-8 halftime lead. Finishing with three touchdowns, Montgomery once again carried the load for the offense.

  • UC looks to build on win at New Site

    Coming off of last week’s 56-12 win against Benton County, Union County will be on the road this week taking on New Site.
    Head coach Scott Duley has seen much improvement with his offensive line, and credits their effort, as well as the defense from last week’s win.

    The Lady Hawks needed three games to advance to Saturday’s second round, and nothing was handed to them easily, as Houlka fought throughout before falling 8-5 in the deciding third game.

  • Union County picks up first win on senior night

    On a very chilly September night, things warmed up for the Union County football team on senior night. UC jumped out to a 28-0 lead behind three touchdown runs and a 55-yard touchdown pass en route to their 56-12 win at BNA Bank Park.

    Down 28-0, Benton County managed one touchdown late in the first half, before Broderick Montgomery added a 25-yard touchdown for UC, giving them a 36-6 halftime lead.

    Montgomery had three rushing touchdowns and 2.5 sacks in the first half alone and drew praise from his head coach Scott Duley.
