Myrtle’s playoff hopes stayed alive on Monday, with the Lady Hawks taking a 6-3 win over Ingomar on senior night.

Myrtle scored the game’s first run in the opening inning, as Meshay Cox scored on a sac fly from Allie Bishop. The score remained the same until the fifth inning, when the Lady Falcons scored three runs to take the lead.

Ingomar had three straight hits, and Morgan Gooch tied the game on her single. With bases loaded, Heather Dillard gave Ingomar the lead, and Reid Little brought in the Lady Falcons’ final run on a single.

  • Lady Urchins claim division title with sweep of Strayhorn

East Union did what was needed and ended Tuesday night with a division title, taking a doubleheader over Strayhorn, 9-3 and 9-1.

Needing one win to clinch a playoff berth and the sweep for the division title, Lady Urchin coach Josh Blythe emphasized the importance of timely hitting, after his team left 20 on base during a tournament last weekend in Nettleton.

  • Ripley hands Urchins second loss of the season

East Union suffered their second loss of the season at Ripley on Friday night, with the Tigers soundly defeating the Urchins, 49-6.

East Union was off to a good start when they recovered a Ripley fumble on the second play of the game, but they were never able to get anything going from there.

  • Myrtle earns division win at Ingomar

The Lady Hawks did what they had to, picking up a big division win at Ingomar on Tuesday. Coming off of last weekend’s county tournament, where the Lady Falcons handed Myrtle a 10-1 defeat, it was the Ingomar bats that were not as strong after building an early 2-0 lead.
Myrtle’s first run came in the top of the fourth on an Ingomar error that plated Ashton Hogue. The Lady Falcons had another error to start the top of the fifth, and Keely Chunn tied the game on her single, followed by a sac fly from Emily Cook that gave Myrtle the 3-2 lead.

  • Hoping to bounce back

New Albany and East Union are coming off of losses last week and hope to rebound with the Bulldogs hosting Corinth and the Urchins traveling to Ripley on Friday.

  • Ingomar wins 2012 UCT

It came down to an extra-inning affair against division rivals that ultimately decided the champion of this year’s Union County slow pitch tournament.

Having lost to West Union early last week, Ingomar again was in a close game with the Lady Eagles, which went to extra innings and fell on the shoulders of one of the Lady Falcons’ seniors.

Tied with two outs and a runner on third and two strikes against her, Reid Little had the game-winning hit for Ingomar, plating Heather Dillard to give the Lady Falcons the 9-8 win over the Lady Eagles.
