  • County teams opening baseball/...

    East Union 10 West Union 3 (Baseball)

    Craig Bullock picked up his third win of the season as the Urchins defeated their county rival Tuesday night.

    C.J. and Chris Armstrong led East Union at the plate, as C.J. had multiple hits and both had doubles for the game.

    East Union improves to 4-1 while the Eagles drop to 0-3 after losing to New Albany in a 7-0 decision Monday night as well.

    Ingomar 9 Pine Grove 2 (softball)

    The Lady Falcons started their season strong Tuesday, defeating Pine Grove 9-2.

  • Lady 'Dawgs fall to Forest...

    New Albany's season came to an end Thursday afternoon versus Forest Hill in the 4A State Tournament in Jackson, 49-38.

  • Myrtle wins behind career game...

    Aspriona Gilbert scored 36 points and grabbed 8 rebounds to help led the Lady Hawks advance to the 1A Girls State semi-finals against McAdams on Friday at 6:30 p.m. after a 81-67 victory over the Thomastown Lady Bulldogs.

    The Lady Bulldogs took a 35-34 lead at halftime, but Amber Williamson got hot from behind the arch to open up in the inside for Gilbert to help the Lady Hawks outscore Thomastown 25-12 to take a 59-47 lead into the fourth quarter. 

  • New Albany rebounds to punch...

    The young team members of the Lady Bulldogs did not want to see their season come to an end and New Albany punched a ticket to State Saturday night, defeating Center Hill 58-34.

    New Albany found themselves in the consolation game Saturday night after coming from behind to  defeat Oxford 63-56 on Thursday and falling to Yazoo City 64-49 Friday night.

  • Falcons fall to Coldwater in...

    Ingomar never could get things going against Coldwater as the Cougars eliminated the youthful Falcons from the North State Tournament with a 75-57 loss on Thursday.

    Coldwater took a 16-10 lead in the first quarter by a six-point effort from Dominic Major, but the Falcons appeared to get on track in the second as they quickly closed in on Cougar six-point edge, but a strong close to the first half allowed the Cougars to take a 36-27 lead at the break.

  • West Union ends season versus...

    Playing host to the 1A North Half Tournament last week, the Lady Eagles were unable to use their home court advantage as they fell to Drew 56-38, ending their season.

  • Falcons open 2009 baseball...

    Ingomar saw Bruce take 2-0 lead before the Flacons got their bats fired up to rally for a 4-2 victory over the 2A Trojans on Friday.

    Josh Hodges sparked the rally when he reach on a one-out error and advanced to third on a double from Preston Broom.  Tanner McCollum tied the game with a double to plate Hodges and Broom before giving the Falcons a one-run lead when he scored on a Tyler Jarvis single.

    Clay Kidd tacked on an insurance run in the fifth when he reached on a two-out single and came around to score on a single by Broom.

  • Urchins start off baseball...

    East Union is off to a strong start in their 2009 campaign after defeating Corinth 9-6 Saturday.

    The Urchins lost their first game of the year on Friday in a 4-3 decision versus Booneville.  The Blue Devils scored two in the seventh to take the 3-2 lead.

    After tying the game in the bottom part of the inning, Booneville tacked on a run in the ninth to secure the win

    Casey McBrayer picked up the loss for East Union. McBrayer also recorded a double, along with Jimmy Marshall and Matthew Carter.

  • East Union-New Albany open...

    Both East Union and New Albany are in full swing for fast pitch softball, as the Lady 'Dawgs are 3-0 and the Lady Urchins won their season opener last week.

    East Union defeated Potts Camp in their first game of the year last Thursday, winning 10-7.

    The Lady Cardinals tied the game in the third at 2-2 and both teams posted three runs each in the fifth.

    East Union took the lead in the top of the sixth, scoring four runs, and the Lady Urchins tacked on an insurance run in the seventh to secure the win.

  • East Union-West Union wind down...

    Bowling season is winding down, and East Union and West Union were recently in action versus Starkville and Tupelo

    The Urchins and Lady Urchins fell to Tupelo, 6-2 and 5-3 respectively.

    Jacob Charland led the Urchins with a 262, while John Malcolm Pannell bowled a 256, John Prather a 203 and Austin Copeland a 200.

    Charland was one off the high game, which was bowled by Tupelo's Tim Hartigan with a 263.

    Pannell bowled the high series for the Urchins with a 571, followed by Prather with a 542 and Daniel Hardy with a 542.
