  • Eagles top Urchins in archery...

    West Union avenged a loss to East Union two weeks ago to down the Urchins 2742-2549 last Friday.

    The two teams met in the first match of the season, with East Union winning at home. This time, the Eagles returned the favor at home, as they topped one of the best archery teams in the area in only their first season participating in the sport. Each team's results are listed below.

    NAHS tennis competed against Itawamba last week and defeated the Indians 6-1. Below are the results.

  • NAHS track hosts invitational

    New Albany High School hosted their annual track and field invitational last Friday. Check the New Albany Gazette later this week for results from the event.

  • Fast-pitch season winds down

    Potts Camp 2

    West Union 0

    The Lady Eagles' offense could not produce any runs as they were shocked by Potts Camp in the first game of their doubleheader Tuesday.

    The Lady Cardinals put two runs on the board in the first, and West Union looked to respond, as Claire Wilkerson led off with a single and advanced to third on an error. Wilkerson was one of three runners who would be left on base for West Union in the first two innings.

  • WU takes second at State Bowling...

    There was no repeat for the Lady Eagles, as they took second place at the State Bowling Tournament last Saturday.

    The Lady Eagles led after the qualifying round with a score of 2,760. West Union faced off against Pisgah in the finals, and fell 4-0.

    Jenna Nolley led the Lady Eagles in the finals with  a 542. April Rollins followed with a 491, April Joyner 438 and Jessica Joyner with a 432.

    Other scores were Stephanie Hall 275, Jessica Clark and Amber Maxey 228 and Ashley Alexander 126.

  • NAHS golf picks up wins at...

    NAHS golf competed at Booneville Country Club on Monday, March 30. Both the boys and girls picked first place finishes in the match. Below are the results.

  • County schools pick up wins in...

    Myrtle

    The Lady Hawks picked up two much needed wins Monday, defeating Falkner and Hickory Flat in Myrtle.

    Emily Cook picked up the win in the circle against Falkner in game one. The seventh grader gave up four runs on four hits, while Myrtle had a hge third inning of 12 runs to lead them to their 21-4 victory.

    Emily Graham led Myrtle with four hits, while Danielle Hogue added three. Amber Williamson and Candace Butler each had multiple hits as well in the game.

  • WU junior to compete in Australia

    A unique opportunity is offered to a unique athlete as West Union, as Matthew Gordon has been selected to run in Australia this summer.

    The junior is a member of the Eagles' cross country and basketball teams, and admits his friends sparked his interest in running cross country.

    "I had some friends tell me i should go out for the cross country team, so i did and it's a lot of fun," Gordon said.  "It's something i really enjoy doing."
