  • NAMS opens new weight room/...

    New Albany Middle School recently held an open house to showcase their new band hall and boys locker room and weight room.

    Started in 2007, NAMS drew initial plans to expand the locker room and weight room due to the growth of the football program.

    "We've averaged about 100 kids the past two to three years," NAMS football coach Buddy Hall said. "We applied for a grant, which said we would receive if we expanded on an existing building."

    The Bulldogs were in action again on Tuesday, as they competed at the Tupelo Country Club. The boys took second place behind the host Golden Wave, while the girls finished first. Below are the results.

  • Remembering Paul Davis

    Kind hearted and intent with a passion for football. That’s how friends remember the late Paul Davis, who passed away March 31. Known mostly in this area as the former head football coach at Mississippi State, many would be surprised to learn that before roaming the sidelines in Starkville, Davis began his coaching career in New Albany.

  • Lady Eagles split v. Pine Grove

    The Lady Eagles find themselves in a familiar position, as their season comes down to a game three match-up. Last season, West Union played a decisive third game in every round of the playoffs, and after Saturday’s doubleheader with Pine Grove, will do so once again on the road at Pine Grove.

    West Union took the first game, 5-1 after scoring four runs in the sixth. Down 1-0 in the fourth, the Lady Eagles plated their first run, then tacked on their insurance runs to take the win.

    Lafayette 11 Myrtle 5

    Montez Phillips led the 4A Commodores over Myrtle on Saturday, downing the Hawks 11-5.

    Myrtle held the 2-1 advantage before Lafayette scored the next nine runs to take the lead and the win.

    Myrtle was held to six hits, while giving up 10, and the Hawks had four errors in the game.

    Hunter McQuary led the way with two homeruns, as the Eagles defeated Myrtle 15-4.

    Leading 6-4, the Eagles exploded with seven runs in the fourth inning.

  • NAHS tennis splits matches,...

    New Albany held senior day festivities last Thursday, but fell the the Oxford Chargers, 5-2. This was only the third match the Bulldogs have dropped this season, as they went undefeated in division play. Below are the results of both matches.

  • NAHS golf competes at The...

    New Albany's A and B golf teams traveled to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina over the weekend to compete in The Palmetto High School Championships.

    Both teams competed for three days at the course, with the A team finishing 13th in the Championship Flight and the B team finishing runner-up in the fourth flight.

  • Ingomar's season ends in...

    Ingomar saw their season come to an end on Saturday, as they fell to Vardaman at home, 7-6 and 17-11.

    The Lady Falcons held the 3-1 advantage with the Lady Rams down to their final six outs, but six hits in the two innings propelled Vardaman to the game one win.

    Both teams hit well, as Ingomar had 10 hits in the game, led b Lyndi Kidd and Shauna Grisham with multiple hits. Brittany Edwards also had a homerun for Ingomar.

    Vardaman would erupt offensively in the second game, notching eight runs in the second inning.
