  • Ingomar, Myrtle to face off in...

    Ingomar

    The Falcons were down early in game one versus Falkner, but Ingomar rallied to take the first game, then took the series on Friday to advance to the next round.

    Ingomar went on top 1-0 in the first, as a double by Josh Hodges scored Austin Gregory, who reached earlier on a walk.

    Hodges struck out five of his first seven batters before giving up three straight hits, including two doubles, as Falkner would take the 3-1 lead.

    The Falcons' bats would come alive the next three innings, as Ingomar had 12 runs to take the lead and game one.

  • NAHS golf wins district,...

    New Albany High's golf team once again claimed division titles and are now preparing for the state tournament in Jackson.

    The boys won their third title in a row, defeating Hernando, Pontotoc, Oxford and Center Hill. Below are the scores.

    New Albany 321 1st place

    Austin Holt 82, Tucker Holmes 78, Sam Cooper 78, Laden Stanford 83 and Blake Conlee 97.

    Hernando 345, 2nd place - qualified for state as a team.

    Trey Howell 82, Sam Anglin 84, Dylan Baskins 91, Austin Duykers 88 and John Michael Little 93.

  • Ingomar dominates Jaguars

    Ingomar had no problems advancing to the second round of the 1A state playoffs last Friday, as they downed Shelby Broad Street, 14-0 and 15-0.

    In game one, there was no surprise, as Falcon senior Josh Hodges torched the Jaguars on the mound, pitching a perfect game while striking out 16 of 18 batters.

  • Former NAHS standout dies in...

    New Albany native and former NAHS standout Ryan Wilhite died in a car accident Tuesday morning in Chilton County, Ala.

    Wilhite and fellow Faulkner University teammate Teirson Hollis were in the vehicle when they were struck at 5:10 a.m. by an 18-wheeler. Both died on the scene. The two were on their way back to Montgomery after visiting with a friend in Tuscaloosa.

  • West Union captures archery...

    In their first season with an archery program, West Union captured the North Half Championship last Saturday at Lewisburg High School.

    The Eagles took the championship with a score of 2815, followed by county rival East Union, with a score of 2739. With archery still a new program in the state, the best a team can currently do is win the north or south state title. Eagle head coach Kevin Meeks credits the desire of his kids in the win.

  • Eagles, Falcons down to wire in...

    County rivals created plenty of drama on Tuesday at the Ole Miss Golf Course, as the District 2-1A title came down to a one hole playoff between West Union and Ingomar.

    The two teams have faced off several time already this season, with competition close every time.

    This was the first time all season that either team played a full 18 holes, and at the end of the day, the Falcons and Eagles found themselves in a tie for first place.

  • Lady Eagles end season versus...

    The Lady Seminoles proved why they are one of the best teams in the north, as they swept West Union over the weekend to advance to the North Half finals this week.

    West Union started the series on the road Thursday and held a 2-0 lead before Smithville answered and took over the game.

    Leah Paige Goolsby brought in the first run for the Lady Eagles, as Claire Wilkerson walked to start the game, followed by a single by Kimberly Jumper.

  • Bulldogs advance to second round...

    The Division 4A playoffs are underway, as the Bulldogs participated in both the individual and team competitions last week.

    On Wednesday, the individual tournament was held in Pontotoc, with the winners advancing to State Tournament in Jackson.

    Savanah Horgan fell to Itawamba's Courtney Collins in straight sets, 6-0, 6-0, while the mixed doubles team of Callie Creekmore and Luke Wilson advance to state with a win over Tishomingo County, 6-2, 6-2.

    Jacob Rowland and Karl Capaning also advance with their doubles win over Shannon, 6-3, 6-1.

  • NAHS golf finishes first,...

    New Albany's golf team was in action last Friday, April 17 at the Oaks Country Club. The boys picked up first place, while the girls finished second. Below are the results from the match.

    New Albany Girls 91 2nd place team: Haley Berryhill 44, Jenna Davis 47, Summer Sanderson 57, Kellie Skinner 64 and Kaitlyn Cochran 60

    Center Hill Girls 77 1st place girls team: Esther Huffman 34, Ashton Peeler 43 and Kelsey Jones 53.

    Saltillo Girls: 116 Mackenzie Koehn, 57, Miranda Chapman, 59 and Charlotte Crooks 66.
