  • Bulldogs defeat Lafayette on senior night

    On a night where the seniors where honored, it was the message from one that motivated his teammates.

    Facing the two-time defending state champions in a pivotal division match-up, Austin Howard had one statement he made to his fellow seniors before facing Lafayette.

    “I will always remember while standing on the sideline with the captains, Austin kept saying it’s our night,” Bulldogs quarterback Spencer Day said. “We bought into it, and we didn’t want to go against them any other way.”

  • Player of the Week: Boston Newsome

    New Albany's Boston Newsome had a career night at North Pontotoc last week, rushing for 306 yards on 36 carries and five touchdowns in New Albany’s 56-13 division win.

    “He takes pride in being the leader of this football team. He’s hands down the hardest working player in our division,” Bulldogs head coach Ron Price said.
    Newsome now has 1,360 rushing yards and 15 touchdowns on the season.

  • Rivals head to town for New Albany, East Union

    Lafayette and Potts Camp travel to Union County this weekend for the home finalies for New Albany and East Union.
    The Commodores, two-time defending state champions in 4A, will take on the Bulldogs with the winner in control for the division title in Region 2-4A. Lafayette enters the game at 7-1, having only lost to Oxford earlier this season. For New Albany, Coach Ron Price is proud of last week’s performance at North Pontotoc and hopes to see that same effort this week.

  • Union County softball teams advance to next round

    East Union and West Union opened the postseason with commanding first round series wins at home.

    Hosting Shelby Broad Street, the Lady Urchins easily advanced to round two after winning 12-0 and 26-0.

    A trio of Lady Urchins had three hits in the second game, and the team had two inside the park home runs from Callie Frazier and Tianna Castillo.

  • Newsome leads Bulldogs to division win at North Pontotoc

    Boston Newsome challenged himself over the last week, and that paid off for the Bulldogs in its 56-13 win at North Pontotoc on Friday.

    The senior rushed for 171 yards against Senatobia last week, but had an uncharacteristic four fumbles. Throughout the last week he worked to fix that mistake, and he responded, finishing with 306 yards on 36 carries and five touchdowns against the Vikings.

  • Bulldogs, Vikings set for division battle

    The Bulldogs are on the road this week, looking for another division win, traveling to North Pontotoc on Friday.

  • Bulldogs defeat Senatobia on homecoming

    The Bulldogs were looking for a big win, and came through with a 14-7 victory over Senatobia to open division play.

    Entering the game at 2-4 and on a three-game losing streak, New Albany put up a big defensive effort to get the win.

  • Bulldogs, Urchins look for turnaround

    New Albany and East Union will both be at home this week, and for the Bulldogs, it is the start of division play.

  • Joslin leads Lady Bulldogs on senior night

    Angel Joslin helped the Lady Bulldogs clinch a playoff spot, showing out on her senior night with three hits and six RBI in New Albany’s 19-0 win over Shannon last Thursday.
    “They’re playing good, and hopefully we’re peaking at the right time,” New Albany coach Shane Sanderson said. “We hit the ball hard tonight and made few errors, so that usually translates to a win. I’m excited about that, and we’re going to take the weekend off and get healthy and ready for next week.”

  • Cleveland tops Bulldogs in final non-division game

    New Albany fought hard but fell short in its final non-division game and now look ahead to division play beginning next week.

    Down 14-0 in the second quarter, sophomore Jimmy Baldon intercepted Cleveland’s Vaughnte Dorsey, running in for the 39-yard touchdown to put the Bulldogs on the board. After holding the Wildcats on its ensuing possession, Spencer Day found J.T. Moore for the 28-yard touchdown to tie the game at 14.
