Different faces stepped up in a big way for the Lady Bulldogs, as they earned another divisional win, defeating North Pontotoc, 72-39, Monday night.

A week off did not affect the Lady Bulldogs in any way, as the top ranked team in the state earned a commanding win in their division opener at Pontotoc, 74-44, Tuesday night.

Focusing primarily on not allowing opponents to hang around, the Lady Bulldogs built a 24 point lead at the end of the third quarter to put away the Lady Warriors.

After a historic 13-1 season and a division championship, New Albany named 20 players to the Division 1-4A All-Division team, announced this week.

Kareem Brown led the way, earning division "Player of the Year" honors. The senior standout was a threat in all areas, finishing with 589 rushing yards, 748 receiving yards, 62 tackles, three interceptions and 223 yards in kickoff returns. Brown also led the team in touchdowns with 19.

New Albany continues to add to its early season accolades, as the Lady Bulldogs were named among the top teams in the nation in USA Today’s Top 25 poll.
Ranking the top boys and girls teams across the nation, the first poll is based on last year’s season, in which the Lady ‘Dawgs finished 32-1 and runner-up in 4A. With the entire team returning from last year, New Albany earned the number 22 spot in the poll.
