  • Bulldogs in battle for division championship

    The Bulldogs and Vikings are forced to a decisive second game to close out the regular season with the winner taking first place in the division after North Pontotoc topped New Albany, 3-2, Monday night.

  • Hand, Simmons win state powerlifting titles

    New Albany saved their best for last, topping several personal records and crowning two individual champions in powerlifting on Saturday in Jackson.

     

    Zach Hand and Wade Simmons entered the state championships as favorites in their respective classes and excelled, finishing with total weights of 1355 and 1540, respectively.

    New Albany boys claimed the championship at their home invitational on Tuesday at the Oaks.

  • NA tennis looks toward playoffs after winning division

    New Albany tennis is no stranger to success, playing this season as the defending state champions in 4A. Despite several key losses from last year, the Bulldogs captured their fourth straight division championship, defeating Pontotoc, 5-2, last Thursday.
    “It was a tough match, and this has been a challenging season for us so far,” NAHS Head Coach Warner Creekmore said. “We suffered a couple tough losses earlier this season, but we battled and pulled out a close win against a good Pontotoc team.”

  • Oxford edges Lady Bulldogs

    The Lady 'Dawgs took Oxford down to the wire but were unable to complete their rally, falling 6-5 Friday night.

    Down 6-3 in the seventh, New Albany posted three straight hits, including an RBI double by Jalanna Cameron. A passed ball with runners in scoring position brought home one more run with two outs, but the Lady 'Dawgs would leave one runner stranded at the end. 

  • Bulldogs take division lead after win versus Shannon

    A strong defensive effort helped the Bulldogs in their division win over Shannon, 9-4, and with a little help from Itawamba, New Albany now sits in first place in Region 1-4A.

    The ‘Dawgs jumped to a 5-0 lead in the second, scoring three runs off a bases loaded double by Tyler Beaty, accompanied by an RBI single from Joshua Googe and a Red Raider error that plated Easton Hall.

    Riley Alef made it a 9-0 game in the fifth with his grand slam, but the ‘Dawgs could not pick up one more run to end the game in five innings.

  • New Albany snaps losing streak

    New Albany bounced back into the win column on Saturday with a 9-2 win over Ripley. The win follows three straight losses, two in division play.

  • Sports physical screening set for May 5

    School personnel from the New Albany and Union County School Districts are working with local physicians, physical and occupational therapists, and athletic trainers to make preparations for the upcoming pre-participation sports physical screening event to be held on Thursday, May 5th.  For the fourth consecutive year, the physicians of Creekmore Clinic will allow the use of their office for this event.  However, Creekmore Clinic is not responsible for required follow-ups.

  • Bulldogs win division tilt against Pontotoc

    New Albany improved to 3-0 in division play behind the complete-game performance of Tyler Beaty, Tuesday night against Pontotoc.

     

    The senior allowed three runs off five hits, but for the third game in a row, the Bulldogs hit in double digits, leading to the 4-3 win.

  • State champs earn postseason honors

    Continuing the county’s excellence in basketball, New Albany’s John Stroud and Jazmine Spears were honored last week by the Clarion Ledger after the Lady Bulldogs’ championship run.
    Stroud, named the state’s Coach of the Year, became only the second coach to receive the honor for both boys’ and girls’, joining Ingomar’s Norris Ashley.
