  • New Albany's season ends at Amory

New Albany’s season came to an end Monday night, falling in game three of their third round series against Amory, 6-1.

“Early on, we got behind on some counts, got some walks and they got some big hits,” NAHS head coach John Walker said. “They just beat us tonight. They got a better starting performance on the mound than we got, and he (Will Cox) was probably better tonight than he was the other night, in my opinion. New Albany evened their third round series against Amory behind the arm of Tyler Beaty, who gave up two hits in the Bulldogs’ 6-0 win on Saturday.

The Bulldogs knew what they were up against, and for six innings, matched well with Amory and their ace pitcher, Will Cox. The Panthers eventually broke away in the seventh, scoring the lone run of the game to give them a 1-0 advantage in the third round series with a 1-0 win.

With Taylor Goode and Drew Wray on base, Riley Alef brought in the ‘Dawgs first runs with his double and later scored himself off a single by Easton Hall.

Lewisburg added two more runs in the fifth, which preceded another RBI hit from Hall, making it 7-4.
