    Northeast Mississippi Community College head golf coach Mike Anderson has announced his first signee of the 2012-13 Tiger golf team.

  • Bulldogs hold on for division win at North Pontotoc

    New Albany accomplished several things Tuesday night at North Ponotoc. The Bulldogs defeated the Vikings for the first time since Coach John Walker joined the program, and more importantly, improved their division mark to 2-1 after falling at Lafayette last Friday.

  • Sister act leads New Albany golf

    New Albany girls golf is looking to make a run at state this year, and leading the way are a sister duo, contributing to a lot of the Lady Bulldogs’ success.
    Lenzi and Summer Sanderson began playing the sport at an early age, and continue to encourage one another now as they play at the varsity level.
    “We’ve been playing golf together since we were little, playing in father/child tournaments,” Lenzi said. “I don’t know if I would have continued playing if it weren’t for Summer.”

  • Lady Bulldogs win 2012 Union Co. softball tournament

    Not in eight years have the Lady Bulldogs won the Union Co. tournament in softball. That changed on Saturday, and for two seniors, it is, what they hope, a sign of good things to come for the remainder of their final season at New Albany.

    “We tried to modify our attitudes, set them aside and work together, and by doing that, we’ve now learned that we can win things like this,” Jalanna Cameron said.

  • Bulldogs open division play with win against Lafayette

    New Albany picked up a big division win over Lafayette on Tuesday, and did so without of one of its best players.

  • Bulldogs fall to Center Hill in spring break tournament

    The Bulldogs had one slip away, falling in the final inning against Center Hill, 6-4, in the first of two games at the Oxford Spring Break Tournament on Monday.
    New Albany built a 4-0 lead after three innings off a game-opening home run by Ben Foster and three runs in the third, highlighted by a two-run single by Jake McDonald.
    With Riley Alef on the mound, the Bulldogs held the Mustangs to three hits, while the senior struck out five.

  • East Union wins Union Co. baseball championship

    Cody Dillard has pitched in many big games for East Union and showed poise in the Urchins’ final game of the Union County Tournament. After striking out seven in a loss to Saltillo last week, the junior left-hander came out on Friday silencing the New Albany bats en route to the Urchins’ 6-5 win, capturing the 2012 Union County Tournament title.

  • County standouts earn MAC all-star honors

    A quartet of basketball standouts will represent New Albany and Union County in this year’s Mississippi Association of Coaches all-star games.

  • Former NFL star visits New Albany

     Students at New Albany Elementary School were treated to a special guest on Wednesday as part of the Read Across America program.

    Former Ole Miss and New Orleans Saints running back, Deuce McAllister, spoke with kids at the school, emphasizing the importance of getting an education as well as staying active and healthy.

  • Baseball 'Dawgs open with two wins

    Bulldogs’ baseball hosted area teams over the weekend for the New Albany Classic, which saw the home team earn two wins agaisnt Bruce and Tupelo Christian Prepatory School.
