  • Hall named Class 4A Co-Player of the Year

    Nine area athletes completed the 2012 baseball season earning All-State honors, voted on by the state coaches and announced last week.

  • New Albany's Smith signs with BMC baseball

    Corey Smith, who led Northeast Mississippi Community College in batting the past two seasons, has signed a baseball scholarship with Blue Mountain College.
    Smith, a designated hitter and third baseman from New Albany, hit .328 in his two years with the Tigers, including 20 doubles and 68 runs batted in. He had an on base percentage of .424 and scored 39 runs.

  • Hall, Maxey commit to NEMCC baseball

    Easton Hall and Mason Maxey both committed to play for the Northeast Mississippi Community College baseball team on Friday, May 18 at New Albany High School.

  • NAHS honors top senior athletes

    Much of New Albany’s success in athletics this school year came from a talented senior class, boasting several exceptionally talented athletes. Awarded for not only their contributions to their respective programs, but also for their continuing dedication to the school were Summer Sanderson and Riley Alef, 2012 recipients of the Bulldog Award.

  • NAHS golf finishes fourth at state

    New Albany golf closed its season with a fourth place finish in the 4A state tournament last week, capped by its best second day total of 628.
    Peyton Dunlap shot a team-best 148, and Holt Garrett finished with a 155, shooting a 78 and 77 over the two days.
    Ryne Sanford finished next, shooting a 161, followed by Will Cherry with a 164 and Will Robbins at 199.
    Lewisburg won the team title finishing with a 608, followed by Corinth (614), Kosciusko (615) and New Albany (628).

  • Bulldogs end spring practice

    Boston Newsome ran for two touchdowns, but it took the Bulldogs’ offense until the second quarter to get on the board, eventually leading toa 14-7 win at Oxford last Thursday.

  • Golf season wraps up with state championships

    The golf championships are drawing to a close, and New Albany girls and Ingomar boys participated in their state title matches earlier this week.

  • State track championships scheduled for this weekend

    New Albany, East Union and Myrtle track competed in the north half championships last weekend. With the top four in each event advancing, these are the athletes that will compete in the state championships this weekend in Pearl.

    For the second time in three years, New Albany captured the 4A state championship in tennis, and for the coach, this is also the second time in three years she has won with one of her children.

  • New Albany tennis wins north half

    Fresh off of its north half team championship, New Albany is competing in the individual championships at Mississippi College before the Wednesday showdown against Newton County.
    Taking on Lafayette in the north half championship last Friday, the Bulldogs won all but one court, and the boys’ doubles team of Christian and Christopher Scott sealed the win, sending New Albany to play for its second state title in the sport.
