  • Parker's return helps Lady Bulldogs

    On Jan. 6, the Lady Bulldogs suffered a difficult defeat to Rosa Fort, falling to 0-2 in division play. The events following that game, however, became the story.
    Freshman guard Kayla Parker passed out following the 62-61 loss and began having seizures in the trainer’s room at Memorial Gym. After tests at the hospital and some time off the court, Parker has returned, playing a significant part in New Albany’s last two wins over Senatobia and Tupelo.

  • New Albany's Alef signs with Northeast baseball

    Northeast Mississippi Community College head baseball coach Kent Farris has announced that the Tigers have signed Riley Alef, a catcher from New Albany for the 2012-13 season.

  • Lady Bulldogs fall to Germantown

     This time two years ago, Summer Sanderson had never set foot on the soccer field, but on Saturday, she led the Lady Bulldogs in the biggest game in school history, hosting Germantown in the second round of 4A playoffs.

    “Summer is a refreshing addition to our team. This is only her second season, and prior to that, she had never been to a soccer game,” NAHS coach Les Huntington said. “She fought hard, and she has worked toward improving her skills since day one. She’s come a long way.

  • New Albany earns close wins at Senatobia

     A lot has changed in a month for the Lady Bulldogs.

    After its Jan. 6 contest against Rosa Fort, New Albany found itself in a hole in region play at 0-2, but has since taken three straight division wins on the road, including a 52-51 win at Senatobia on Friday.

  • History made for Lady 'Dawgs

    History was made for the Lady Bulldogs, and Saturday features several firsts for the young squad.
    Never has the girls’ soccer team made it to the second round of the playoffs, but that will change after New Albany defeated Lewisburg, 2-0, in Tuesday’s first round.
    “This is very big for our program,” coach Les Huntington said.

  • New Albany prepares for soccer playoffs

    The Lady Bulldogs fell short in a quest for a division title, falling 2-1 to Corinth on Saturday.
    Kristen Olson had the lone goal for New Albany, which went into overtime against the Lady Warriors. The loss placed the Lady ‘Dawgs in second going into the first round of the playoffs on Tuesday.
    New Albany put itself in position for a possible division title after defeating Tishomingo County, 5-0, Friday night.

  • Spears scores 33 in loss to Belmont

     A young New Albany squad played a competitive first half against Belmont, but were plagued by fouls and turnovers, resulting in a 66-46 win for the Lady Cardinals on Saturday.

    Behind 10 first quarter points from Jazmine Spears, New Albany held an 18-10 lead after the opening frame, but Belmont slowly worked its way back in, as Elisiah Jones tied the game at 24 and Angelia Allen gave the Lady Cardinals the lead shortly after.

  • Pirates pull away for win over New Albany

     New Albany had its chance Saturday night against Pearl; it was just the missed opportunities and the three-point shooting of the Pirates that made the difference in the 65-58 loss.

  • NA's Stevens signs with ICC soccer

    A pair of area soccer standouts have signed national letters of intent to play for the Itawamba Community College programs next season.
    The Lady Indians signed New Albany midfielder Randi Stevens while the Indians picked up goalkeeper Will Pearson of Pontotoc.

  • NA soccer beats North Pontotoc on the road

    New Albany soccer picked up big division wins over North Pontotoc on Saturday, working toward its goal of playoff appearances for both boys and girls.
    The Lady Bulldogs clinched a playoff berth with its 2-0 win over the Lady Vikings. After being in a deadlock at the half, 0-0, New Albany came out with two goals, one by Emily Baldridge, assisted by Kristen Olson and Olson scored the second goal, unassisted, on a corner kick.
