Northeast Mississippi Community College’s softball team enters the 2011 season with a newfound focus and a new dedication toward its ultimate goal.
 “It’s a new day,” said Northeast head softball coach Jody Long, “a new demeanor.”
 Northeast’s will rely greatly on its new demeanor after the Lady Tigers failed to qualify for the postseason for the first time since switching to fast-pitch competition at the turn of the century.

Heading down the stretch toward the State Tournament, the Northeast Lady Tigers and Tigers split a North Division doubleheader with Coahoma Monday night in the Bonner Arnold Coliseum (BAC). 

Head Coach David Robbins’ squad secured a spot in the post season by beating Coahoma 105-76 in the nightcap. 

“I thought at times we really played well,” Robbins said. “We executed well on both ends of the floor and made good decisions.”

Northeast Mississippi Community College men’s and women’s basketball teams fell to the East Mississippi Community College Lions and Lady Lions in Saturday’s double-header on the hardwood.
Head Coach Ricky Ford’s Lady Tigers (10-9, 5-4) lost in game one 90-70 while Head Coach David Robbins’ Tigers (9-11, 5-4) were defeated in game two 74-61.
The Lady Tigers had two players score in double-digits with Patra Hubbard leading the way for Northeast with 17 followed by Anna Brooke Page who added 12.

Northeast Mississippi Community College head football coach Ricky Smither announced the signing of 28 athletes from around the mid-south on Wednesday, February 2 during a National Signing Day 2011 event held in the Magnolia Room on the Booneville campus.

Smither, who will enter his fourth season at the helm of the Tigers, picked up 23 athletes from the Magnolia State and added five from Alabama.
