  • Tiger football on the prowl this spring

    Head Coach Ricky Smither enters into his fourth year at the helm for the Northeast Mississippi Community College football program and has his team on the prowl this spring preparing for the 2011 season.
    With spring training underway and players in full gear, Coach Smither and his staff have liked what they have seen up to this point after just one full week of practice.

  • NEMCC softball closes in on playoffs

    Northeast Mississippi Community College softball team continued its push for the Mississippi Association of Community/Junior Colleges (MACJC) state playoffs with a sweep of Holmes over the weekend.
     
    Northeast (15-13, 5-4 in North Division) moved into the fourth spot in the division standings with a 6-3, 5-4 sweep of Holmes in Goodman on Saturday, March 26.
     
    With the two wins, Northeast leapfrogged Mississippi Delta for fourth place in the division standings.
     

  • NEMCC softball makes most of rare home doubleheader

    Northeast Mississippi Community College softball team made the most of its return to Booneville City Park after not playing a doubleheader in the friend confines in almost a month.
     
    Northeast (12-12, 2-3 in North Division) was able to scratch away a split in its series with rival Itawamba Community College and see their win streak extend to five games before falling in the nightcap of the doubleheader on Tuesday, March 22.
     

  • Tigers split with Trojans in Moorhead

    Northeast Tiger ace pitcher Daymon Eriksen combined with reliever Drew Dodds to toss a no hitter in game one of a key North Division doubleheader and led the Tigers to a split with Mississippi Delta in Moorhead Tuesday, March 23.

    With North Division play now in full swing and the Tigers on the road for the second consecutive series, Northeast topped the Trojans 6-1 in the opener, but dropped the nighcap 3-0.

  • Northeast softball completes perfect spring break

    Northeast Mississippi Community College softball team used a perfect spring break in evening its record.
     
    Northeast (11-11) went a perfect 4-0 over Spring Break holidays and set itself up as one of two Mississippi Association of Community/Junior Colleges (MACJC) North Division teams with a non-losing record.
     
    North Division rival Itawamba is the only other division team with a non-losing record at 13-8 and the Lady Tigers and Lady Indians face off in Booneville on Tuesday, March 22 in a North Division doubleheader.
     

  • Northeast splits division opener against Itawamba

    Northeast Mississippi Community College baseball team knew starting off division play against rival Itawamba Community College would be a challenge.
     
    However, the Tigers were able to earn a split in their first Mississippi Association of Community/Junior Colleges (MACJC) North Division doubleheader of the year after dropping the first game 6-3 with a 4-2 decision in the nightcap in Fulton.
     

  • Former Urchin signs professional deal

    During his only season with the Tigers, former Northeast Mississippi Community College pitcher/designated hitter Chase Porch made an impact on the Tiger record book.
     
    Now, Porch of East Union is carrying on that success after signing with the Amarillo (Texas) Sox of theAmerican Association.
     
    Amarillo opens its 2011 season against the Wichita Wingnuts on May 12-15 at Amarillo National Bank Sox Stadium in Amarillo, Texas.
     

  • Northeast softball schedules annual college exposure tournament

    Booneville City Park has been a hotbed of junior college softball action over the last couple ofweeks as Northeast Mississippi Community College starts to heat up the basepaths during its 2011 season.
     
    However, on Saturday, March 19, Booneville City Park reverts to the hotbed of high school softball as Northeast and Booneville High School team up to host their annual College Exposure Tournament.
     

  • Ford steps down as NEMCC's women's basketball coach

    Northeast Mississippi Community College women's basketball coach Ricky Ford has left his "built Ford tough" mark on many Lady Tiger teams since coming to Northeast in 1981.
     
    However, the 2010-11 season turned into his victory lap through the Mississippi Association of Community and Junior Colleges (MACJC).
     
    Ford has announced he will step down as women's basketball coach at Northeast.
     

  • NEMCC golf team finishes seventh at Copiah-Lincoln Invitational

    Northeast Mississippi Community College’s golf team finished in seventh place at the Copiah-Lincoln Invitational held on March 6-7.
     
    The Mississippi Association of Community and Junior Colleges’ (MACJC) second tour stop of the year proved to be a tough outing for head coach Craig Lauderdale and his golf team.
