  • Wray joins as latest NEMCC baseball signee

    Northeast Mississippi Community College head baseball coach Kent Farris has signed Drew Wray of New Albany and Dillon Payne of Saltillo to his 2011-12 roster.

  • Northeast football announces 2011 schedule

    Northeast Mississippi Community College head football coach Ricky Smither has released the Tigers 2011 football schedule.
     
    Northeast, coming off its fifth Mississippi Association of Community/Junior Colleges (MACJC) North Division runner-up finish in schoolhistory, will have five home games during the 2011 season and will face five games during the first month of the season.
     

  • NEMCC announces summer baseball camps

    Northeast Mississippi Community College head baseball coach Kent Farris will host his annual Tiger baseball camp on May 25-27 at Harold T. White Field in Booneville.
    Cost will be $65 for the entire three-day session and includes refreshments, camp T-shirt, and medical insurance.
    Farris hopes that the camp will teach athletes fundamental skills to help players develop proper playing habits, while coordinating the hard work with a fun atmosphere.

  • Lady Tiger softball ends season at state tournament

    Northeast Mississippi Community College softball team made the most of its final at bat of the 2010-11 season.
     
    Northeast (25-23) rallied for four runs against the Mississippi Association of Community/Junior Colleges (MACJC) South Division champion Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College in the top of the seventh inning in Perkinston on Thursday, April 28.
     
    Northeast’s rally came up short as Mississippi Gulf Coast walked away with a 7-4 decision in the final game of opening day at the MACJC State Tournament.
     

  • Northeast caps season in Scooba

     Northeast Mississippi Community College’s baseball team capped its 2010-11 baseball season in Scooba against East Missisippi Community College on Saturday, April 30.
    In order for Head Coach Kent Farris and company to stay alive for another trip to the Mississippi Association of Community/Junior Colleges (MACJC) North Division’s state tournament, they had to sweep the Lions in Saturday’s series.

  • Former Urchin awarded for off-the-field success

    Northeast Mississippi Community College’s right-handed pitcher Craig Bullock (Blue Springs) has been selected as a 2011 Coca-Cola Community College Academic Team Bronze Scholar.
     
    Bullock, a 6-0, 178-pound sophomore hurler for the Tiger baseball team, has been honored due to his off-field achievements in the classroom and in the community.
     
    The Coca-Cola Community College Academic Teams are based on points earned in the All-USA Community College Academic Team competition for which over 1,600 applied for nationally.
     

  • Northeast baseball to host State Games of Mississippi tryouts

    Northeast Mississippi Community College head baseball coach Kent Farris has announcedthat Northeast will be hosting the District I baseball tryouts for the 2011State Games of Mississippi.
     
     
    Rising juniors and seniors (2012 and 2013 graduates) from the Mississippi High School Activities Association (MHSAA)’s District I will get a chance to qualify for the State Games of Mississippi on Wednesday, June 1 at Harold T. White Field in Booneville beginning at 10 a.m.
     
     

  • NEMCC softball caps senior day with win

    Northeast Mississippi Community College softball team took care of Sophomore Recognition Day and sent its second-year players out on a winning note Monday, April 25.
     
    After falling in the opener 6-2 to Bevill State (Ala.), Northeast rebounded to send its six sophomores out on a winning note by knocking off the Lady Bears 4-1 in the nightcap at Booneville City Park.
     

  • Northeast golf wraps up state tournament appearance

    Northeast Mississippi Community College golf team remained consistent on the 2010-11 year capping the season with an appearance in the Mississippi Association of Community/Junior Colleges (MACJC) State Championship at Deerfield Golf Course on the Colonial Country Club in Canton.
     
    Northeast finished eighth edging out Itawamba and Holmes with a two-day 656 and stoodjust nine strokes out of sixth place in the state event.
     

  • Tiger basketball picks up six local signees

    Northeast Mississippi Community College men’s basketball program continued to bolster its roster with six in-district signings on the first day athletes could sign with college programs on Friday, April 8.
     
    Northeast men’s head basketball coach David Robbins signed six local athletes from four in-district high schools that included Kareem Brown and Tadarious Coburn of New Albany, Acie Vance of Ripley, Steven Polk and Deonta Herman of Corinth and Jon Harrison of Belmont.
