  • Tigers captialize on turnovers in win over East Central

    Northeast Mississippi Community College sophomore safety Devin Lindsey of Baldwyn and freshman quarterback Parks Frazier of Corinth made the most of their opportunities in the Tiger season opener against East Central on Thursday, September 1.

  • Northeast softball sets reunion date

    Northeast Mississippi Community College’s softball program is all about family.

    That’s the reason Northeast head softball coach Jody Long is spearheading the second annual Northeast softball alumni game on Sunday, October 9 at 1:30 p.m.

    “At a reunion, it is an opportunity to keep that connection between that family,” Long said. “Whether someone has moved on from the 2011 season or if they moved on in the 90s, it’s all about keeping the connection."

  • Tigers set for season opener against Warriors

    Northeast Mississippi Community College head football coach Ricky Smither and company have waited all summer for this week's season opener at Tiger Stadium against East Central Community College and the time has finally arrived.
     
    Northeast will host East Central in Booneville Thursday, September 1 in hopes of starting its 2011 season off on the right foot. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
     

  • Tigers look to continue resurgence in 2011

    Since taking over the reins of the Northeast football program in 2008, Ricky Smither has led the Tigers to resurgence.
     
    Despite collecting only three wins (one via forfeit) during his first two seasons, the Tigers experienced a breakthrough win against Itawamba Community College 28-21 -- Smither’s first win on the gridiron -- and a 25-10 North Division win over Holmes Community College in 2009 and finally broke through in 2010 posting their first winning season since 2005 at 5-4 and marked the fifth North Division runner-up finish in school history.

  • Northeast softball honored for off-the-field success

    Northeast Mississippi Community College softball program is finding that success comes in many different forms.
     
    After returning to the 2010-11 Mississippi Association of Community/Junior Colleges (MACJC)State Tournament in Perkinston and giving host Mississippi Gulf Coast a run in the first round of the tournament, Northeast was rewarded for its work in the classroom when the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) released its 2010-11 Academic Awards on Wednesday, June 29.
     

  • Holt makes late charge in tournament

    Northeast Mississippi Community College golfer Austin Holt of New Albany has a flare for the dramatic.
     After qualifying for the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division II Golf Championships at Goose Pond Colony Golf Course in Scottsboro, Ala., with a 71 on a blustery day at Riverbirch Golf Club in Amory during the NJCAA Region XXIII tournament, Holt turned the trick again at the national event.
    Holt fired an even par 72 and vaulted himself into a tie for 57th overall after recording a four-day, 305 at the national competition.

  • NA's Smith among NEMCC athletes honored

    A quintet of Northeast Mississippi Community College baseball players have been honored for their success on the field during the 2010-11 season.
     
    Corey Smith of New Albany and Jacob Long of Vardaman were named to the Mississippi Association of Community/Junior Colleges (MACJC) All-State first team whileTrae Allison of Hernando and Will Wallis of Ripley were named to the All-State second team.
     

  • Holt in prime position at national tournament

    Northeast Mississippi Community College golfer Austin Holt of New Albany is making the most of his final debut in the black and gold.
    Holt fired a four-over, 76 during the first day of the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division II National Golf Championships at Goosepond Colony Golf Course in Scottsboro, Ala., on Tuesday, May 17.
    Holt’s 76 left the Tiger sophomore in a tie for 36th overall and just six strokes off the lead at the national event.

  • Northeast softball to host Make-a-Wish tournament

    Northeast Mississippi Community College’s softball program will continue its effort to give back to the community with its annual Mid-South Make-A-Wish ASA Qualifier Fast Pitch Softball Tournament on May 27-28 at Booneville City Park.
     
    As with the past events, all proceeds from the tournament will go to the Mid-South Chapter of the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
     

  • Alexander extends invite to 2011 summer camps

    Northeast Mississippi Community College head women’s basketball coach Brian Alexander has scheduled a pair of camps for the 2011 summer.
    Camps will start with a junior high girls camp on June 6-8 and following that three-day camp will be another three-day event on July 5-7 for senior high girls.
