  • Northeast schedules first ever softball alumni weekend

    ortheast Mississippi Community College head softball coach Jody Long has scheduled the program’s first-ever fast-pitch alumni weekend.
     
    Alumni of the Northeast fast-pitch softball program will descend upon the Booneville campus during homecoming weekend with the weekend culminating in a game featuring current and former stars of the Lady Tiger softball team.  
     
    Northeast’s feature game will be held on Sunday, October 17 at 1:30 p.m. at Booneville City Park.
     

  • Northeast set to renew rivalry with Trojans in home opener

    Northeast Mississippi Community College has only played three teams more than it has played Mississippi Delta Community College.
     
    Northeast and Mississippi Delta are set to renew their rivalry when the Tigers open up the 2010 home campaign against the Trojans on Thursday, Sept. 16 at Tiger Stadium in Booneville.
     

  • Northeast softball brings olympic format to fall drills

    Northeast Mississippi Community College head softball coach Jody Long has found a way to make fall scrimmage a little more interesting and raise funds for the program in the process.
     
    Long has introduced the Lady Tiger softball team to the “Softball Olympics” as a way of getting the Lady Tigers to bump up the competition during the fall semester and as a way to generate money for the program.
     

  • Tigers take tough loss to Bears in Summit

    Northeast Mississippi Community College traveled to Summit on Thursday night where they faced the Southwest Community College Bears in a battle of two 1-0 teams, however the road was unkind to the Tigers this week as the, the Bears were able to pull out a 20-16 victory.
    In the first half, it was all defense, with both teams struggling to find offensive production and went into the locker room tied up at 7-7.

  • Registration underway for 'Friends of the Tiger' tournament

    It’s not too late to join the field for the inaugural “Friends of the Tiger” Golf Classic set for Friday, October 15 at the Shiloh Ridge Golf Club in Corinth.
    Scheduled as part of Northeast Mississippi Community College’s 2010 Homecoming festivities, the event will be co-hosted by the Northeast Development Foundation and the Alumni Association.  Talmadge Finch of Booneville is the alumni chairperson for the event.
    Cost to participate in the four-person scramble tournament is $100 per player or $400 per team.  

  • Northeast earns 500th program win in season opener

    It was all Northeast on the gridiron Thursday night in Decatur as the Tigers took out their vengeance on the Warriors 34-6 in the program’s 500th game.
    Last year the Warriors pulled off a miracle by cashing in on two ‘hail mary’ passes--one at the end of the first half and another at the end of regulation-- and won the game in overtime 35-28.  
    However, this year the Tigers quickly removed that defeat from their memory bank and claimed redemption by easily defeating East Central 34-6 at Warrior Stadium.

  • Current, former Tigers make splash in summer baseball league

    Current and former Northeast Mississippi Community College baseball players did not take the summer off due to the weather.

    Instead, a pair of current Tigers and a quintet of former Tiger baseball players have been rewarded for their efforts during the hottest months of the year.

  • Northeast to welcome five new members to sports Hall of Fame

    Northeast Mississippi Community College's Sports Hall of Fame continues to grow.
     
    Northeast will enshrine its third class of former athletes and coaches during Homecoming 2010 activities on Saturday, October 16 at the Booneville-based college.
     

  • Melson announces open tryouts for NE tennis

    Northeast Mississippi Community College’s Head Tennis Coach Jeff Melson has announced that an open tryout date will be offered on Thursday, August 26.

    “We are going to host the open tryouts here on the Northeast campus in Booneville and it will begin at 3 p.m.,” said Melson.  “The tryouts are for both the men and women’s teams and in case of inclement weather the open tryout date will be rescheduled for Monday, August 30, at 3 p.m.
