  • NEMCC softball prepares for alumni weekend

    Northeast Mississippi Community College’s softball program continues to plan for its first-ever alumni weekend.

    Northeast head coach Jody Long set the date for the weekend to coincide with the 2010 Homecoming at the college and also with the induction of former Lady Tiger softball coach David Carnell into the Northeast Sports Hall of Fame on Saturday, October 16.

  • Tigers try to get back to winning ways at Scooba

    Northeast Mississippi Community College’s football team will try to bounce back from its first North Division setback when the Tigers make the trek to Scooba to take on East Mississippi Thursday at 7 p.m.

    Northeast (3-2, 2-1 in North Division) was handed its first North Division setback to the nation’s seventh-ranked team Northwest at Tiger Stadium last week 26-6 where the Northeast offense only mustered a pair of Taylor Earhart field goals in a contest that was dominated by placekickers.

    game with Northwest Mississippi Community College lived up to its
    billing as jucoweekly.com’s ‘Game of the Week’ for the first 52:27 of
    the pair’s matchup at Tiger Stadium in Booneville Thursday night.

    Northwest (5-0, 3-0 in North Division) tacked on a Kevin Buford
    27-yard field goal and got a tipped pass touchdown by Xavier Lee when
    the 5-8 sophomore used all 5-feet, 8-inches to haul in a 12-yard pass

  • Northeast baseball schedules First Pitch banquet

    Northeast Mississippi Community College’s baseball program will host its fifth annual ‘First Pitch’ banquet on Monday, January 24 in the Claude Wright Room on the second floor of the Haney Union on the Booneville campus.
     
    Northeast’s ‘First Pitch’ banquet has served as a kickoff for the baseball season and the 2011 version is no different with Mississippi State University head baseball coach John Cohen serving as guest speaker for the evening.
     

  • Northeast-Northwest chosen as Jucoweekly.com 'Game of the Week'

    Northeast Mississippi Community College’s North Division encounter with Northwest will be the jucoweekly.com ‘Game of the Week’ for the fifth week of the regular season.
     
    Thursday’s affair will mark the first time that Northeast has been featured as the ‘Game of the Week’ since the inception of jucoweekly.com in early 2010.
     
    Jucoweekly.com’s ‘Game of the Week” has been the marquee matchup between high caliber teams each week and the ‘Game of the Week’ has not disappointed.

  • Northeast defense looks to stifle high-powered Northwest offense

    Northeast Mississippi Community College’s football team just picked up some extra motivation for Thursday’s game against Northwest.
     
    Northeast (3-1, 2-0 in North Division) dropped to second in the overall defensive standings when the statistics for the Mississippi Association of Community and Junior Colleges (MACJC)/Region XXIII were released Tuesday.
     
    Copiah-Lincoln jumped the Tigers in the standing by holding Jones County to under 280 yards in the Wolves 20-14 win over the Bobcats.
     

  • Northeast stays undefeated in division, set up showdown with Northwest

    Northeast Mississippi Community college’s football team continued its hot start to the season Thursday night in Goodman.
    Northeast (3-1, 2-0 in North Division) tallied 20 second-half points in knocking off Holmes 35-20 and setting up a big meeting with rival Northwest next week in Booneville.

  • Northeast looks to continue hot start with trip to Goodman

    Northeast Mississippi Community College takes its league-leading defense into Goodman Thursday night as the Tigers look to continue the program’s best start since 2005.
     
    Northeast (2-1, 1-0 in North Division) makes the trek to Goodman to take on Holmes Community College in the two program’s 46th meeting in the 51-year history of the Tiger football program.
     

  • Northeast wins home opener with ground attack

    Northeast Mississippi Community College defeated Mississippi Delta Community College in its home opener at Tiger Stadium in front of a packed house on Thursday night the old fashion way.

    Head Coach Ricky Smither’s offense executed its ground attack to perfection by tallying up 242 yards and three touchdowns on the ground, while controlling the ball for over 40 minutes, propelling the Tigers to a 26-13 victory against the Trojans.  

  • Northeast baseball schedules alumni event

    Northeast Mississippi Community College head baseball Kent Farris has announced that the program’s alumni event will be held on Saturday, October 9.
     
    Northeast’s second baseball alumni event will be held on Saturday, October 9 at 9:30 a.m. at Harold T. White Field inside Booneville City Park.
     
    Registration will start at 9:30 a.m. with batting practice beginning 30 minutes later for all former players.
