  • Tigers fall on the road at Meridian

    Both men and women’s basketball teams for Northeast continued to struggle on the road during the 2010 season falling to Meridian Community College at Graham Gymnasium Monday night.

    Northeast men’s head coach David Robbins’ squad fell in the nightcap 76-69 while Ricky Ford’s Lady Tigers team came up short in the opener 81-74.

    The Tigers (2-5, 0-0) were led by John David Little’s 19-point effort, followed by Jermaine Hollimon’s 15, and Tyler Pritchard’s 11.  
     

  • Four Tigers selected for MACJC All-Star game

    Northeast Mississippi Community College’s football team continues to receive accolades since capping the year with its twelfth winning season in school history.

    Northeast (5-4, 4-2 in North Division) finished in a tie for the North Division runner-up spot claiming the Tigers fifth division runner-up finish in school history and first since the 1987 season when a Johnny Plummer squad finished 6-4-1 and 4-1-1 in division.
     

  • Jones earns sweep of Northeast basketball

    Northeast Mississippi Community College’s men and women’s basketball teams were defeated on the road Monday night by Jones County Junior College in Ellisville.

    In game one, the Lady Bobcats (2-2) picked up the win over the Lady Tigers (2-3) 103-67.  Jones County led 65-32 at intermission but were only able to add 38 points in the second frame while Northeast scored 35.

  • Northeast enshrines four into Sports Hall of Fame

    Northeast Mississippi Community College’s Sports Hall of Fame continues to grow.
     
    Northeast enshrined its third class of former athletes and coaches during Homecoming 2010 activities on Saturday, October 16 at the Booneville-based college.
     

  • Quartet of Lady Tigers slated for All-Star game

    Northeast Mississippi Community College’s storied softball team continues to rack up honors as we edge closer to the 2011 season.
     
    Four players, as well the Lady Tigers coach, have been selected to represent the Lady Tigers in the 2010 Domino’s Mississippi JUCO All Star Showcase.
     
    Sophomores Robin Franks, Leslie Hendrix, Taylor Moore, and Kelle West have been selected to play in the second annual event to be held at Ridgeland’s Freedom Ridge Park.
     

  • Tigers to host wolves in regular season finale

    Northeast Mississippi Community College’s Tiger football team will look to keep its playoff hopes alive on Thursday night, October 28 at Tiger Stadium where they will face off against the 12th ranked Copiah-Lincoln Community College Wolves.
     

  • Tigers lose heartbreaker to Indians in Fulton

    With a playoff berth and bragging rights on the line Thursday night in Fulton, the 18th ranked Northeast Tigers dropped a 20-17 heartbreaker to arch rival Itawamba on the gridiron.
    Northeast took and early 7-0 lead on running back Jaquise Cook’s (Ripley) one-yard TD plunge at the 5:39 mark in the first quarter.  Less than a minute later, the Indians answered with a 43-yard touchdown pass from QB Andy Wilson (Spring, TX) to defensive back Darius Slay (Brunswick, Ga.) to knot the score at 7-7.

  • NEMCC to host baseball scrimmage

  • Northeast wins Tiger battle

    Head Coach Ricky Smither’s squad advanced to 5-2 overall and 4-1 in the north division while Coahoma dropped to 1-4, 2-4.

    “This was a great win for us and I give these guys all the credit for what they have accomplished,” said Smither.  “My coaching staff is the best. . .Coach Carter, Coach Darnell, Coach Boyette, and Coach Macon, I mean these guys deserve the credit for all the hard work they put in to this football program.”

  • Lightning & Thunder strike in Scooba

    Skies were clear and calm in Scooba Thursday, October 7 but Northeast Mississippi Community College’s football team let loose a rushing storm on East Mississippi and captured sole possession of second place in the North Division.
     
    Northeast’s running duo of Jaquise Cook (Ripley) and Jamarcus Goodloe (Leighton, Ala.) accounted for 349 yards on the ground and five scores as the Tigers knocked off the defending Mississippi Association of Community and Junior Colleges (MACJC) state champions 49-42 in an offensive storm.
