  • Northeast golf finishes seventh at MSU golf course

    Northeast Mississippi Community College’s golf team finished seventh at the Mississippi State Golf Course in Starkville in the Mississippi Association of Community & Junior Colleges (MACJC) fourth event of 2012.
     

  • Northeast softball drops pair to Calhoun

    Northeast Mississippi Community College softball team stepped out of North Division play on Tuesday, March 29 and despite a stellar pitching performance from Jaisa Fox and Erin Dixson found itself on the short end of a doubleheader against Calhoun Community College.

    Northeast (18-12) saw Calhoun rally late in the opener for a 5-4 nine-inning decision before the Lady Warhawks took the sweep with a 5-2 win in the nightcap.

  • East Central sweeps Northeast on the diamond

    Head Coach Kent Farris and his team traveled to Decatur on Tuesday, March 6 to take on East Central Community College in a double header but were unable to escape with a win.
     
    In game one, East Central was hot at the plate scoring 11 runs and held the Tigers to just one to defeat Northeast 11-1 in the opener.
     

  • Northeast golf stays consistent in third tour stop

    Northeast Mississippi Community College’s golf team stayed consistent through its third Mississippi Association of Community/Junior Colleges (MACJC) tour stop of the year and second in four days.
     
    After finishing seventh in the second tour stop of the year at Eagle Ridge Golf Course in Raymond, Northeast improved its position with a sixth place two-day 643 at the third tour stop hosted by Copiah-Lincoln Community College at Wolf Hollow Golf Course and Brookhaven Country Club onMonday, March 5 and Tuesday, March 6.
     

  • Pitchers rule the day in Lady Tigers' sweep of Holmes

    In its previous nine games, Northeast Mississippi Community College’s softball team had outscored the opposition 101-14 but pitchers ruled the day on Tuesday, March 8 at Booneville City Park.
     
    Northeast’s Erin Dixson and Jaisa Fox matched Holmes’ Kelsey Marter in a doubleheader that saw just three runs scored, 16 combined hits and 21 strikeouts with the Lady Tigers coming out on top with a pair of close decisions.
     

  • Northeast golf finishes first match tied for fifth

    Northeast Mississippi Community College’s golf team opened up the Mississippi Association of Community/Junior Colleges (MACJC) golf season with a fifth-place showing in its first tour stop of the year.
     
    Northeast finished in a tie with Jones County Junior College with a 671 two-day totalafter the squads carded identical scores on both days a The Oaks Golf Club in Pass Christian.
     
    Northeast fired a 341 on the opening day of the season led by Easton Cartwright, Jordan Wilson and Blake Conlee’s 85s on the opening day.

  • Northeast baseball continues nine-game, eight-day stretch

      Northeast Mississippi Community College baseball team continued its stretch of nine games in eight days as the Tigers took on Jackson State (Tenn.) Community College and Wallace State-Hanceville from Alabama on February 27-28.
     
    Northeast (4-5) captured its nine-inning, one-game affair against the Generals on February 27 12-9 before dropping a pair of hard-fought decisions to the Lions 6-0, 15-10 on February 28.
     

  • Northeast baseball knocks off nation's second best team

    Northeast Mississippi Community College’s baseball team picked the right time for its first sweep of the year as the Tigers knocked off Jones CountyJunior College on Saturday, February 25 in Ellisville.
     
    Northeast (3-3) secured the sweep with a pair of wins -- 9-6 in nine innings and 5-3 -- over the nation’s second best National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division II baseball program.
     

  • Northeast softball 5-1 after Tigerfest

    Northeast Mississippi Community College sophomore shortstop Nicki Whitten of Booneville made the most of her final TigerFest Tournament.
     
    Whitten, a team captain, went 6-for-10 over the two-day tournament while leading the Lady Tigers to a 5-1 mark.
     
    After dropping the first game of the tournament to Lincoln Land (Ill.) 3-2, Northeast reeled off five straight victories including wins over Indian Hills (Iowa) 9-1, Lane College 16-0, Southwest Tennessee 7-2, Jefferson College (Mo.) 9-4 and East Central 5-2.
     

  • Northeast baseball 'armed' for success

    According to Northeast Mississippi Community College head baseball coach Kent Farris, the Tigers are ‘armed’ for success.
     
    For the first time since Farris took over the reins of the Northeast program, the veteran coach feels that the Tigers have enough pitchers to throw the entire season.
     
    “The game of baseball starts on the mound,” Farris said. “We are in better shape pitching wise than we have ever been at this time of the year.”
