    Northeast Mississippi Community College head baseball coach Kent Farris has a saying about results.
    “Winning is not a goal of ours,” Farris said. “Winning is the result of doing things the right way.”
     For Farris, doing things the right way has come in the form of a 144-141 overall record during his first six year as the head signal caller for Northeast after taking over for Ray Scott in 2007.
    During that time, Northeast has qualified for the playoffs in four of the veteran coach’s six years in Booneville.

  • Northeast baseball opens season with a pair of wins

    Northeast Mississippi Community College’s baseball team opened the season on Sunday, February 17 with a sweep of Southeastern Community College and Arkansas Baptist College at Harold T. White Field in Booneville.
    Northeast knocked off Southeastern Community College from West Burlington, Iowa in five innings in the season opener before downing the Buffaloes of Arkansas Baptist 10-1 in the nightcap.
    In the season opener against the Blackhawks, Northeast jumped on the visitors early and never let up.

    Northeast Mississippi Community College women’s softball team kicked off the 2013 season in grand fashion with a pair of wins and a tie at the Rush Invitational in Meridian on February 15-16.
    Northeast (2-1-1) opened the two-day affair with a 6-3 win over host Meridian in eight innings before battling undefeated Copiah-Lincoln to a 3-3 tie in the nightcap of the first day.
