Visitors to New Albany can go back in time to the good ol’ days of washing clothes on a washboard, shucking their own corn, shelling their own peas, and more a the ninth annual Union County Heritage Pioneer Days.
Heritage Pioneer Days will take place at the Union County Heritage Museum in New Albany on Sept. 17 and 18.
The Lions Club of New Albany is having two fundraisers to help raise money for people with vision impairments.
Orders are being taken now for bags of pecan halves. The pecans will be shipped around November 15 and the flavors are roasted, plain, and there will be some assorted bags. The cost is $8 for one bag of pecan halves.

Amateur Radio operators are still going strong in Union County. The Northeast Mississippi Amateur Radio Club is located in Union County and is responsible for the operation and maintenance of its repeater at the Union County Fairgrounds.
The American Legion Potter-Henry-Lowrey Post 72 installed its fiscal year 2011 officers during the July monthly meeting. J. R. Owen, Jr. performed the installation. Damon Cooke was installed as Commander of Post 72 that had its beginnings when chartered in 1920.
