  • This year’s New Albany Christmas parade will begin at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 29, 2010 in downtown New Albany.

    The theme for this year’s parade is “Christmas Memories.”

  • Christmas shoppers looking for a day to get a lot of holiday shopping done, need to come to New Albany Main Street Association’s Holiday Open House. This event, which has been going on for at least eight years, has been attracting visitors from neighboring towns and areas to check out New Albany’s shopping destinations. 

  • The flowing of the American flag on Nov. 11, also known as Veterans Day, is reminiscent of the freedom of the American people, the ones who fought and served, the ones who are still serving, and the families that shed tears of happiness and sadness of having loved ones serve or have served in the United States Armed Forces.

  • Bro. Lee R. Howell recently returned from his eighth trip to Europe.  He served as a musician in the National Baptist Congress of Christian Education held in Mannheim, Germany.

    He was a voice major in graduate school at Jackson State University.

  • Monsters like Dracula, Frankenstein, the Wolfman, and more Halloween favorites will be ready to entertain audiences this weekend for some Halloween fun, community theater-style.

    The Tallahatchie River Players will be presenting, ‘The Monster Monologues’ October 28-30 at 7 p.m. at the Magnolia Civic Center.

  • Girl Scouts Heart of the South held a meeting last Monday night to discuss upcoming events, have a discussion among parents and troop leaders, and to get questions answered from Angela Woods, CEO of Girl Scouts Heart of the South.

    Woods was also there to listen to any concerns and answer any questions that may arise.

  • Stargazers, archaeology enthusiasts, and people that love learning about history and ancient weapons, need to come out to the Ingomar community this Saturday afternoon for the annual Ingomar Mound Day.

    Festivities will include star gazing with telescopes, object identification, tours of the Ingomar mounds, ancient weapons demonstrations and trail walks to Ingomar Mounds

  • Mississippi State University fans may have heard a familiar last name during the halftime ceremony this past Saturday at the school’s yearly homecoming football game.  

  • Jalema and Jay Tidwell of Myrtle, Miss., announce the engagement of their daughter, Alyssa Ann Tidwell, to Mark Edward Benedict, son of Sherry Benedict and the late Joseph Benedict of Amory, Miss.
