Heritage Pioneer Days are approaching and a host of related activities will be part of this year’s annual trek into the past at the Union County Heritage Museum in New Albany.

Anthony D. Neumann, a professional dancer since 1980, came to the New Albany School of Ballet and Dance Arts as a guest teacher and dancer and taught the students different forms and techniques.

Museum Moments, which will be held on Aug. 16, 2012 at the Union County Heritage Museum, will feature Carolyn Terry from The Apron Museum in Iuka.  

Terry, who has the only apron museum in the country, has been featured in state and national publications. 

At age 13, Rani Higgins got a chance this year that many dancers or ballet students don’t get a chance to do. She was accepted into the extensive summer workshop at the prestigious Joffrey Ballet School in Chicago. 

“We basically worked on perfecting things and we worked on our dance character,” said Higgins.

A new rehabilitation practice has opened up in downtown New Albany. Mission Rehabilitation, owned and operated by J. Pullman, P.T., opened its doors at the beginning of April.

Pullman previously owned outpatient offices in Bay St. Louis, Gulfport, and Biloxi from 1999-2005, but when Hurricane Katrina hit, he decided to take his family and move to New Albany.

Marine Corps Pvt. Shaqville M. Garner, son of Joe and Paletha Keaton of New Albany and William Garner, Jr. of Hickory Flat, Miss., earned the title of United States Marine after graduating from recruit training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, S. C.
