Today's Opinions

  • Tomatoes bring guilt

Every time I pull into our driveway, I start thinking about tomatoes and feeling a little guilty.

A tomato plant is growing up right through the concrete, at least it seems so. Actually, I think its roots go down between cracks in the curb. Ever since it came up, my wife has been out there nurturing it.

  • Cell phones and driving

Recently I read a story about the National Safety Council wanting the government to ban talking on cell phones while driving.

It got me to thinking about driving distractions.

  • Honoring our nation

Tomorrow is the day we honor America.

But do we really? Oh, we’ll put out our flags, perhaps set off some fireworks and maybe even do something patriotic. But do we really honor our country and its government? We wonder sometimes.

  • Improving Ingomar

Much needed upgrades to the electrical system, as well as other maintenance items, are being completed this summer at Ingomar Attendance Center.

  • Spray park a long wait

The long and frustrating effort to get a spray park constructed inside the New Albany Sportsplex appears to be near an end.

To say it’s not a moment too soon is an understatement. What was projected to be a three-month project when it was approved by the New Albany Board of Alderman last May has turned into 14 months.

  • Letter to the editor

    Dear Editor:

  • Area grieves over teen’s death

Our community is grieving over the tragic death of Marshuan Braxton, a New Albany High School student, who was swept away by a wave while on a mission trip to Costa Rica.

  • More news, new features

The New Albany Gazette is your source for local news, sports, events, and information in New Albany and the surrounding area.
