Letters

  • Alcohol petition opposed

    Dear Editor:

I see that Satan has reared his ugly head again in trying to get more alcohol into our town. You see, Satan is always in the “now” business. He doesn’t want us to see into the future, and know the pain and heartache that alcohol can cause.

  • Amendment 26 supported

    Dear Editor:

There is much discussion regarding Amendment 26 and what it may or may not accomplish. However, with rumors flying around, one question should be considered: Does life begin at conception?

  • A visit from the city inspector

    Dear Editor,

You recently published a letter I had written concerning the inequality of the removal of signs advertising carport sales while the politicians’ signs remain without question wherever they place them.

  • Thanks for downtown displays

    Dear Editor:

I would like to thank all the downtown merchants that participated in the “Fall Display Contest.”   Every one of them was fantastic.  There were 20 merchants that participated and credit is due all of them for their hard work, creativity, and dedication to give back to the beautification of the downtown business district.

  • Thanks for literary event help

    Dear Editor:

I want to thank those who made it possible for author Robert Hicks to visit our community.

  • A nice event downtown

    Dear Editor:

Regarding the New Albany On Tap event on Sept. 30, I want to say I enjoyed it a lot. During the time I was there, everyone was friendly and well behaved.
All the sponsors who helped put this event together deserve kudos, especially Mary Jennifer Russell of Sugaree’s Bakery.
The event drew all sorts of folks: doctors, lawyers, cafe owners, teachers, bikers, even a newspaper publisher and his charming wife.

  • Recycling used bikes urged

    Dear editor:

I am a bike enthusiast and I have enjoyed the lifestyle that biking encourages. Last month my wife and I met two middle school children riding around New Albany on bikes much too small for them.

  • Community support appreciated

    Dear Editor:

There are times when a person is overcome with emotion by moments of beauty in their life. Some of those moments in my life include my wedding day, the day my two girls were born, and the night of our “A Night Out for the Trouts” benefit.

  • Don't criticize Mississippi

    Dear Editor:

I am sick and tired of all the negative, rude remarks made by people about Mississippi and the South.

  • Debt ceiling arguments political

    Dear Editor:

The President suggested in his speech  that we contact our representatives and congressmen  and give them our views.
