It wasn't easy, but the Lady Falcons were able to hold off a late game rally from Vardaman to advance to the semi-final round of the Region 3-1A Tournament after a 45-38 victory over the Lady Rams on Monday.

Vardaman found their rhythm on offense to quickly cut into the Lady Flacons 24-16 halftime lead before sophomore Shelly Grisham put the team on her shoulders by scoring nine of her game-high thirteen points in the third quarter to help Ingomar take a 33-26 lead into the final frame.

Baseball season is reving up, and fans had a first glimpse of their teams over the weekend at East Union's pre-season jamboree.

With the deduction of games teams are allowed to play in the regular season, many schools choose to hold jamborees, much like you would see in football, as a way for teams to prepare for the regular season.

The Urchins have hosted the day-long event for 2 years, and this year's teams included Ingomar and West Union.

Those passing by the west side of the intersection of HWY 78 and HWY 30 W. may have noticed construction beginning next to Wendy's.  According to New Albany Building Inspector Mike Armstrong, this will be the new location of a Hampton Inn.  Charmaine Easie-Samuels, representative for Hampton Hotels confirmed that a 75-room hotel is being built at this location.  No projected end date for the project has been set yet.

The famous Depression Era comedian/cowboy, Will Rogers, once told a story about a mountain lion who, after eating an entire bull, felt so good he started roaring. He kept it up until a hunter came along and shot him. The moral to Mr. Rogers’ story is that when you’re full of bull, keep your mouth shut.
