NAHS started their 2009 golf campaign March 5 at the Oaks Country Club. The Bulldogs finished 2nd and 4th in boys action, while the girls picked up a first place finish.

The varsity boys picked up 2nd place with a team score of 166.

Austin Holt, Laden Stanford, Peyton Dunlap  and Sam Cooper all scored a 42, while Tucker Holmes  shot 40.

New Albany's JV squad finished 4th with a team score of 177.

Blake Conlee led with a 38, followed by Sam Jackson Dunnam 48, Holt Garrett 44, Ryne Stanford 47, Joseph King 50, Cody Cissim 51 andCaleb Mitchell 52.

The New Albany board of alderman Tuesday night voted to use its first round of Stimulus Package money to correct a drainage problem on Carter Avenue, as well as overlay new asphalt on sections of Bankhead and Carter.

New Albany Mayor Tim Kent told the board that the city would receive $287,000 from the Mississippi Department of Transportation (MDOT) to use for the roadwork.

The New Albany School Board meeting began with New Albany Mayor Tim Kent administering the oath of office to Board Member Mr. Bobby Gault.

Gault was reappointed for five years on the board. He was appointed by the city of New Albany Board of Aldermen. He has been reappointed six times and this year begins his 33rd year. Gault is a New Albany school board member and a member on the state school board.

A retirement ceremony was held in the honor of Mr. James Boyd Mattox, Jr. on Tuesday, March 3, 2009 at the Magnolia Room at the Magnolia Civic Center. Mattox is retiring from the BNA Bank Board of Directors. He worked for BNA Bank from 1979-2008. Mattox is a former co-owner of the New Albany Sales Co., also known as the Sale Barn, where he was in charge of horse and cattle sales and horse and cattle auctions.
