  • Falcons, Lady Bulldogs win UCT championships

    Playing three games in as many nights, fourth seeded Ingomar prevailed on Saturday to win the 2013 Union County Tournament championship after a 68-59 win over New Albany.

  • Union County Tournament: Day 2

    The second night of the Union County Tournament was highlighted by two close match ups on the boys’ side, setting up a rematch of last year’s title game between New Albany and Ingomar.

    The Falcons held on in its semifinal contest against top-seeded East Union, 65-60, despite giving up a double-digit lead in the second half. Sam Cobb put Ingomar ahead by 11, 35-24, to open the third quarter, but late scoring from Vadale Rucker put the Urchins within five, 46-41, to close the frame.

    A childhood dream became a reality for two Lady Bulldogs on Thursday, as Morgan Beaty and Shannon Goode were among four athletes who signed with Northeast softball in Booneville.

    "Both of these girls bring a tremendous amount of leadership to the team, and their abilities both on and off the field are a huge impact, not only at the school, but also in the community," New Albany coach Tom Zahller said.
