Special agents with State Auditor Stacey Pickering's office are currently investigating Union County Coroner Mark Golding, according to a press release issued by the agency Thursday afternoon.

According to statements made in the press release, Mark Golding is being investigated for issuing false claims and invoices to Union County that he investigated deaths within the County and received payment for those claims.  Investigators found that Golding submitted false invoices to the Union County Board.

Shortly before 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, election officials declared Kevin Dale White the unofficial winner of a runoff election in New Albany's 3rd Ward.

White received 188 votes in the runoff election, or 55.8 percent of the vote, compared to 149 votes, or 44.2 percent for his opponent, Larry Dykes.

The total vote count included 16 absentee votes and three affadavit ballots.

White will take over a seat on the New Albany Board of Aldermen that will be vacated by current alderman Tommie Beasley when the term ends in June.

Jeff Olson was re-elected Ward One Alderman Tuesday, but New Albany residents in Wards 3 and 4 will go to the polls one more to choose their  representatives on the city’s Board of Aldermen.

After 13 years of service as principal at Myrtle Attendance Center, Vince Jordan has stepped down from the post, effective immediately.
