Congratulations to Laklin Williams, two-year-old daughter of Jess and Anna Williams, for winning the Walking to Three-year-olds category at the Benton County Fair Aug. 23. Her grandmother, formerly of Sherman, is Cindy Williams. Her granddad is Chuck Williams, and her proud great grandparents are Clarence and Jane Westmoreland of Sherman.  

Hill Country Blues continues to be a mainstay in New Albany and blues musicians still play the music strongly on stages everywhere.

Audience members will have a chance to listen to blues music by listening and dancing to The Mosley and Johnson Band, with special guests, the Muscle Shoals Horns on Sept. 21, 2012 at Tallahatchie RiverFest.

The Mississippi Highway Patrol continues its investigation into a crash that killed a Blue Mountain man.

James H Stagener, 75, of Blue Mounain, died Monday from injuries he sustained when his 1986 Chevrolet pick-up was hit from behind by 2008 Peterbilt, operated by William B Rakestraw, 44, of Blue Mountain, as they were traveling down Highway 15 South.

Gladys Davis, the person who many consider to have spearheaded the creation of New Albany’s school for special needs adults, passed away Friday.

She was 95.
