The Union County Board of Supervisors voted Tuesday to approve the county’s budget for fiscal year 2013, which shows no significant changes over the current year, but does have some good news for citizens.

Changes were made to the proposed 2013 budget for the Town of Blue Springs before the budget was officially adopted Tuesday night.

Blue Springs Board of Aldermen members discussed items that needed to be added as well as amended.

Thanks to the aid of residents in the East Union area, the Union County Sheriff’s department was able to make arrests in a house burglary.

“On this cases, someone in the public noticed what was going on and told us the information that led to these arrests,” said Jimmy Edwards, sheriff of Union County.

Remnants of Hurricane Issaac finally made their way through Northeast Mississippi this weekend and made an impression in the Union County area  Sunday evening.

The biggest mark the storms left was destruction of the large tree that covered the First United Methodist Church’s front lawn for several decades.
