NA Ballet to hold Christmas performance

New Albany School of Ballet and Dance Arts will present Visions of Christmas at 6:30 p.m. on Dec. 8 at the Magnolia Civic Center. Tickets available at the door. Pictured are Justine Stewart, Director and a few of the students that will be performing in our upcoming Holiday performance. Our dancers have worked very hard and are hoping to get everyone into the Christmas Spirit, Stewart said. The show will be divided into three sections: Scenes of The Nutcracker, The Magic of Christmas and the Spirit of Christmas.

Six area teachers complete rigorous steps to pass National Board Certification

Four teachers from the Union County School District and two teachers from New Albany School District will officially receive their National Board Certification on Dec. 4.

Myra Pannell of East Union Attendance Center, Heather Willard, Beverly Fitzgerald and Amy Jennings of West Union Attendance Center and Laura Reedy and Christy Pipkin of New Albany Elementary School have completed the rigorous process to join an elite group of teachers who are nationally certified.

I learned on Nov. 17 that I had passed, Pannell said. It has been a long process, but it was worth it.

NA board of aldermen approve engineering firm for CDBG project

The New Albany board of aldermen met Wednesday to consider the proposals from engineers to negotiate for a contract for the Community Development Block Grant project on the Martintown Rd. industrial site.

During its meeting on Tuesday, Nov. 20, the board opened proposals from four separate engineering firms - the Chiron Group of Jackson, Precision Engineering of New Albany and Oxford, Cook Coggin Engineer and Mendrop-Wages Engineering of Ridgeland.

Saluting our veterans

Both New Albany Elementary and Hickory Flat Attendance Center held ceremonies honoring area veterans.

New Albanys ceremony took place last Friday at 1:30 p.m. in the school cafeteria.

1st Grade teacher Donna Kay Sizemore organize the program at New Albany

Hickory Flat held its recognition service Mondy morning. The junior and senior Beta club sponsored the program.

A procession of veterans came in with each branch of the armed services represented by their flag.

The Hickory Flat music department presented the National Anthem and other patriotic songs.
