ICC president selected to receive regional award

Itawamba Community College President Dr. David Cole has been selected as the recipient of the American Association of Community College Trustees’ Southern Region CEO of 2012 award. The regional award will be presented to Cole at the ACCT Leadership Congress, Oct. 11, in Boston, Mass.

NEMCC offering car maintenance class

Northeast Mississippi Community College’s continuing education department has recently announced that a basic car care and maintenance class will be held on Aug. 30.

In this class, participants will learn how to check hoses, tire pressure, belts, general maintenance, and where and how to check fluids.

Union County Headstart seeking job applicants

Union County Headstart will be starting school Aug. 20, 2012. Registration will be open throughout the school year. Headstart will be serving more children this year. Last year the school served 126 children and this year, they will be 144 children.

NA schools OK energy upgrade

At a specially called meeting in Jackson Monday, the New Albany School District’s board of Trustees approved a $2.8 million-dollar project to upgrade the energy efficiency of its heating and cooling systems, as well as lighting at all of its schools.
