Local student attends a leadership conference

Clara Watson recently attended the Mississippi Hugh O’Brian Youth (HOBY) Leadership Seminar in Jackson, Miss. Clara, representing Ingomar Attendance Center, joined over 200 other young leaders from high schools across the state for the three-day leadership conference.

Local student attended summer program

Terry Robert Saul of Etta attended Summer College for High School Students at The University of Mississippi from June 30 – July 30.

Saul, a student at West Union High School, earned college credit by taking University of Mississippi faculty and staff-led courses on the Oxford campus.

Local schools await impact of aid

Like many school districts across the state of Mississippi, both New Albany and Union County School Districts are cautiously optimistic about the impact of the $26 billion in emergency aid signed into federal law Tuesday.
The law, if it takes effect like many supporters hope, would bring approximately $250 million to the state’s school district, including $180 million for kindergarten through 12th-grade schools.
