The junior high and high school pageants were held on Oct. 8.
The winning word was “typhoon” at the Union County Spelling Bee and West Union student Annabelle Botts took home the prize money and the winning title.
In an effort to continue recycling efforts and reduce landfill contamination, students in New Albany Schools and a majority of Union County Schools are teaming up to “Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle.”
In order to help combat a projected decrease in revenue from both state and federal sources in the coming year, the Union County School District Board of Trustees included a four percent ad valorem tax millage rate increase in its 2011-2012 budget.
After careful discussion regarding next year’s financial status, the Union County School District Board of Trustees voted to once again ask for a four percent increase in the ad valorem tax millage rate.
