  • New Albany Gazette Obituary Policy

    The Gazette will print obituaries at no charge for any deceased person from Union County, Ecru, Sherman, Hickory Flat or Potts Camp, or for anyone with ties to these communities.

    The Gazette will also run a photo of the deceased along with the obituary if a family so chooses.

  • Wilbur Glenn Kidd, 78

    Wilbur Glenn Kidd, 78, of New Albany, died Monday, Oct. 29, 2007, at his home. He was a Baptist.

    Services were at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2007, at Browning Funeral Home Chapel in Ecru with the Rev. Charlie Swords officiating. Interment was in Shady Grove Cemetery. Browning Funeral Home handled arrangements.

    Survivors include two sisters, Loyce Kidd Hill of New Albany and Janette Kidd Tubbs (Bobby) of Southaven; one brother, Charles J. Kidd of New Albany; two sisters-in-law, Shirley Robbins and Barbara Kidd; several nieces and nephews.

  • Carolyn Ann Howard, 65

    Carolyn Ann Howard, 65, of New Albany, died Oct. 30, 2007, at North Mississippi Medical Center-Tupelo. She was born Jan. 3, 1942, in Union County to Perry Canerdy and the late Ruth Myrick Canerdy. She was a member of Moss Hill Baptist Church and a retired furniture factory worker.

    Services will be at 11 a.m., Friday, Nov. 2, 2007, at United Funeral Chapel with Bro. Kenny Adair officiating. Interment will be in Glenfield Memorial Park. United Funeral Service handled arrangements.

  • James Dennis McDonald, 45

    James Dennis McDonald, 45, of New Albany, died Oct. 30, 2007, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Union County. He was born in Union County on May 28, 1962 to Johnnie Knowles Bell and the late James Kermit McDonald. He was a mechanic and worked at The Union County Maintenance Department. He enjoyed hunting and being a mechanic. He was a Baptist and was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church.

  • Joey Lee Andrews, 50

    Joey Lee Andrews, 50, of Ecru, died Monday, Oct. 29, 2007, at his home. He known for his knowledge and experience in working with C.B. radios. His C.B. handle was "Woodcarver."

    Services were at 2 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 1, 2007, at Tutor Memorial Funeral Home in Pontotoc. Interment was in Voyles Memorial Cemetery on Andrews Road in Ecru. Tutor Memorial Funeral Home handled arrangements.

  • Nona Lavelle Hall, 89

    Nona Lavelle Hall, 89, of Ecru, died Tuesday, Oct. 30, 2007, at the North Mississippi Medical Center. She was born Nov. 15, 1917, in Pontotoc County to the late Henry and Julie High Horton. She was a lifelong resident of Ecru. She was a retired factory worker and a member of Horton Memorial Baptist Church. She was the widow of F.W. Hall.

    Services were at 10 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 1, 2007, at Mortimer Funeral Home in Ecru with the Rev. James Lewis and the Rev. Owen Hitchcock officiating. Interment was in Ecru Cemetery. Mortimer Funeral Home handled arangements.

  • J.C. Deaton, 63

    J.C. Deaton, 63, of New Albany, died Tuesday, Oct. 30, 2007, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Union County. He was born July 20, 1944, in Hamilton, Ala., to the late John Calvin and Rosie Pipkins Deaton. He was a member of Blue Springs Baptist Church and a self-employed roofer.

    Services were at 2 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 1, 2007, at United Funeral Service Chapel with Bro. Gerald Dye and Bro. Jack Ezell officiating. Interment was in Vista Memorial Park. United Funeral Service was in charge of arrangements.

  • Shirley Rodgers, 71

    Shirley Rodgers, 71, of Baldwyn, died Monday, Oct. 29, 2007, at her home. She was a homemaker and a member of Parkview Baptist Church. She enjoyed flowers, gardening, and playing with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

    Services were at 2 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2007, at Parkview Baptist Church in Baldwyn with Bro. John Cagle and Bro. Dean Warren officiating. Interment was in the Friendship Cemetery. Waters Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

  • Ronald Bradley, 66

    Ronald Alvis Bradley, 66, of Hickory Flat, died Saturday, Oct. 27, 2007, in Hickory Flat. He was born March 22, 1941, in Hickory Flat to the late Charles Murray Bradley and the late Mable McBroom Bradley. He served in the U.S. Navy for six years and retired from the U.S. Coast Guard. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War.

    Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 2, 2007, at Holly Springs Funeral Home. Interment will be in Pine Grove Baptist Cemetery in Hickory Flat. Holly Springs Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
