    A.J. Jarvis Jr., 85

    Andrew Jackson Jarvis Jr., 85, of New Albany, died Sunday, March 15, 2009, at the State Veterans Home in Oxford. He was born June 15, 1923, in Union County to Andrew Jackson Jarvis Sr. and Ruth Carr Jarvis. He was a retired carpenter and factory worker, and a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.

    Alice Bishop, 91

    Mattie Alice Bishop, 91, of Toccopola, died Tuesday, March 10, 2009, at the North Mississippi Medical Center in Pontotoc. She was born Aug. 8, 1917, in Bald Knob, Ark., to Thomas Brinkley and Carrie Ethel Jackson Scarborough. She was retired from Hunter Fan Co. in Memphis. She was a loving mother and a devoted Christian attendee of Toccopola Baptist Church. After her retirement she spent her time doing what she loved most, rocking on her front porch and tending to her flowers.

    Virginia "Berd" Mosley Cook, 34, of New Albany, died March 8, 2009, at North Mississippi Medical Center-Tupelo.  She was born Aug. 13, 1974, to Thomas Mosley and Jessie Faye Mosley in New Albany.  At an early age, she accepted Christ and joined Mallalieu United Methodist Church, where she served in the Youth Choir and later at an older age she united with Union Prospect M.B. Church, where she served in the missionary group.  She graduated from W.P. Daniel High School.  She was employed with Piper Impact until she became disabled.

    Nellie "Nell" Roseann Keenum Crumpton, 79, of Blue Springs, died Saturday, Feb. 28, 2009, at her home. She was a homemaker and a member of New Harmony Methodist Church.

    A memorial service was at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 5, 2009, at McBride Funeral Home Chapel in Ripley with Bro. Doc Shelton officiating. Cremation followed.

    Bonnie Sue Bannister-Boatner, 43, of Potts Camp, died Thursday, Feb. 19, 2009, at her home after a long illness. She was born July 7, 1965, in Chicago to Luther Mills and Peggy Mills. She loved animals, playing bingo, having get-togethers, and spending quality time with her grandchildren.

    Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 26, 2009, at Serenity Funeral Home Chapel in New Albany with Bro. Michael Baker officiating.

    Curtis Franklin Fooshee, 63, of Blue Springs, died Friday, Feb. 13, 2009, at the Baptist Memorial Hospital in Union County. He was born Sep. 18, 1945, in Union County to Otis Franklin Fooshee and Thelma Miller Fooshee. He was a retired furniture factory worker and a Deacon and member of Parks Baptist Church.

    Services were at 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 15, 2009, at the United Funeral Service Chapel with Bro. Frank Wilder officiating. Interment was in the Parks Cemetery. United Funeral Service was in charge of the arrangements.

    Mary A. Azlin, 72, of New Albany, died Tuesday, Feb. 17, 2009, at Graceland Care Center. She was born March 11, 1936, in Thaxton to James H. Azlin and Eula Faust Azlin. She was a member of Christian Rest Methodist Church.

    Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 21, 2009, at Christian Rest Methodist Church with the Rev. Dennis Gossett and the Rev. Thomas Burchfield officiating. Interment will be in Christian Rest Cemetery. United Funeral Service is in charge of the arrangements.

    Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday, Feb. 13, 2009, at Union Grove M.B. Church with the Rev. W.B. Sampson officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Serenity Funeral Home of New Albany is in charge of the arrangements.
