  • Mary Kathryn Bryan and William Vardaman Hall to wed Feb. 6

    Travis and Angie Bryan and the late Mary Bryan of Blue Springs are proud to announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter Mary Kathryn Bryan of Blue Springs to William Vardaman Hall of New Albany.

    The bride-elect's grandparents are Roger and Mary Lynn Rakestraw of Blue Springs and Evelyn Bryan and the late Baremore Bryan Jr. (Lefty) of Guntown, Miss.

    She graduated from East Union Attendance Center in 2007 and now works at BanCorp South in Sherman.

  • Donie P. Rakestraw

    Donie P. Rakestraw will celebrate her 100th birthday on February 14, 2009. She is the daughter of Melinda and Zack Pickens. Rakestarw was born February 14, 1909, still lives at home by herself and enjoys crocheting and cooking Sunday dinner. She has outlived all 10 of her brothers and sisters, her two children and husband. Friends and family will attend the birthday celebration.

  • Davis wedding reception to be held Jan. 31

    John and Linda Davis are proud to announce the wedding of their daughter Jennifer Lynn Davis to Joseph Scott Clayton, the son of Larry Clayton and Sheila Ford. The wedding took place on January 2, 2009 at 2 p.m. in Memphis, Tenn. The reception will be held at Harmony Baptist Church on January 31, 2009 to celebrate their marriage.

  • Birth of James Chandler Hudson

    Mr. and Mrs. James Hudson of Oxford, Miss. welcomed son James Chandler Hudson into the world on January 9, 2009 in the Special Delivery Services wing at Baptist Memorial Hospital – North Mississippi. He weighed 6 pounds, 4 ounces. He was greeted by one sister Chelsey Lee Ann Hudson. James’s grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Alton Brock of New Albany and Mr. and Mrs. Dwayne Hudson of Oxford, Miss.

  • Birth of Sadie Elizabeth Childers

    Elizabeth Jade Childers and John Caleb Childers of New Albany welcomed daughter Sadie Elizabeth Childers into the world on December 30, 2008 at 8:42 p.m. at the Baptist Memorial Hospital – Union County in New Albany. Sadie weighed 8 pounds, 2 ounces and was 19 ¾ inches long. She was greeted by four-year-old brother John Brady Childers. Sadie’s grandparents are Theresa and John Mark Childers and Patrick and Dianne Pierce, all of New Albany. Her great-grandparents are Ann and Mose Stokes and Sarah and James A.

  • Birthday of Marissa Elise Davis

    Marissa Elise Davis will celebrate her fifth birthday on January 24, 2009. Marissa is the daughter of Megan Davis of New Albany and Jermaine Gray of Racine, Wi. She will have a Tinkerbell party at Chuck E. Cheese and friends and family are invited. Marissa has one sister named Coliee Boyd, who is a one-year-old. Her grandmother is Mary Davis.

  • Birthday of Madison Grace Brooke Bennett

    Madison Grace Brooke Bennett celebrated her first birthday at McAlister’s Deli on December 27, 2008. Madison is the daughter of Cassandra and Larry Bennett of New Albany. Friends and family were invited.

    Zachery Howell celebrated his sixth birthday at Chuck E. Cheese with family and friends. He is the son of Derrick and Jan Howell of Etta and the grandson of Dorothy Howell of Potts Camp, Miss.

  • Garrison celebrates 2nd birthday

    Jon Everett Garrison celebrated his second birthday on January 3, 2009 at the Neely Baptist Church Fellowship Building. The party had a cowboy theme and many family and friends attended the party. Jon’s parents are Correal and Jonathan Garrison of New Albany. His grandparents are Phillip and Shelia Jones, Paul Lee Garrison and the late Norris Garrison , all of New Albany. His great-grandparents are Sam and Dorothy Nichols of Blue Springs.

  • Delilah Roberts

    Adam and Candace Roberts of New Albany are proud to announce the birth of their daughter, Delilah Jeana Grace Roberts.

    Delilah was born at 10:20 p.m. on November 12, 2007 at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Union County in New Albany. She was six pounds, five ounces and measured 19 1/2 inches long.

    Grandparents are John and Wanda Bishop of New Albany.

    Delilahs great-grandparents are Beaulah Bishop, Johnny Brooks, Glen and Glendora Roberts and Jean Cox, all of New Albany.
