  • Birth of Sophie McKynze Minor

    Derek and Buffy Minor of Ingomar proudly announce the birth of their daughter Sophie McKynze Minor, born on 8:24 a.m. on February 16, 2009 at Baptist Memorial Hospital – Union County. She weighed 7 pounds, 6 ounces and was 19 inches long. She was welcomed home by two older sisters Lily-Grace, age 10, and Meridith, age 4. She is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Alan Goudy of Ingomar and Kim Coker of Abbeville. She is the great-granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. V. C. Goudy of Ingomar, the late Mr. and Mrs. Jr. Rakestraw of Wallerville and Mr. and Mrs. George Minor of Ecru.

  • Birthday of Nylaijah Malai Smith

    Nylaijah Malai Smith celebrated her second birthday on February 17, 2009. She is the daughter of Nashika Smith and Mantle Brown, both of New Albany. She has two brothers named Isaac Smith and Artavious Smith and one sister named Nataviuna Smith. She is the granddaughter of Jeffie Smith, Patricia Smith, Catresia Jones, and James Jones. Her great-grandparents are Everlina Smith, Katherine Brown, and Danell Brown. Her party was a Chuck-E-Cheese party. Nylaijah loves church, likes to sing, and does drama in the church with the drama team.

  • Birthday of Christopher Shaffer

    Christopher Shaffer recently celebrated his fifth birthday on January 10, 2009. He is the son of Christy and Bro. Don Shaffer, both of Batesville. He is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Don Beasley of New Albany and Mr. and Mrs. Danny Shaffer of Poolville. He has one sibling, Kayla Shaffer, age 1. His great-grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Newt Messer of Poolville, Faye Shaffer of Eupora, the late Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Pickens and Mr. and Mrs. Theodore Beasley. The party was held at Burger King and the theme was Thomas and Friends. Family and friends attended the party.

     

  • Birthday of Alice Quillian Jordan

    Alice Quillian Jordan celebrated her 80th birthday on February 1, 2009 with a surprise party. Family and friends attended the party at Old Oak Grove Baptist Church in Myrtle, Miss. 91 people attended the party. The party was given by Pam Roberson and family, Amanda Bonds and family and Belinda Chism.

  • Pope Anniversary

    Virginia and Charlie Pope of Hickory Flat celebrated their 68th wedding anniversary on February 8, 2009 in their home with family. They have seven children, 20 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren, and six great-great-grandchildren.

  • Hatch, Caviness to wed Feb. 28

    The children of Deloris Hatch are proud to announce the forthcoming marriage of their mother to Thomas Caviness on February 28, 2009 at 3 p.m. at the New Albany Community Center. Deloris is the daughter of the late Birdie Jackson and the late Willie Rainer. Thomas is the son of Robin G. Bradley, the late Charlie Randle Jr. and the late Jesse Henry McCoy Jr. A reception will follow after the ceremony. All friends and relatives are invited to attend.

     

  • Nellie Jarvis to turn 80 on Feb. 28

    Nellie Jarvis will be celebrating her 80th birthday on February 28, 2009 from 3 to 5 p.m. at the Bethlehem United Methodist Church reception hall at 1560 CR 81 in New Albany, Miss. Family and friends are invited to come out. We want to have a little fun and fellowship with her.

     

  • Birth of Jordan MaKenzie Kimmons

    Bettye Johnson and Justin Kimmons of New Albany welcomed their baby girl Jordan MaKenzie Kimmons into the world on Thursday, January 8, 2009 at North Mississippi Medical Center Women's Hospital in Tupelo at 4:54 p.m. She weighed 8 pounds, 3 ounces and was 19 ½ inches long. She was greeted home by big sister Justis Breanna Kimmons. Jordan's grandparents are Janetta Cooper and Samuel Carter Sr. of Detroit, Mich., Audrey Kimmons of Bradley and Keith Mosley of New Albany. She is the great-granddaughter of Leo and Winnie Kimmons of New Albany.

  • Birth of Zoe Mary-Klare King

    Wendy Kidd King and Chad King of Hickory Flat welcomed daughter Zoe Mary-Klare King into the world on January 17, 2009 at 5:14 p.m. at the Baptist Memorial Hospital – Union County in New Albany. She weighed 6 pounds and was 18 inches long. Zoe is the granddaughter of Pam Kidd and Charlie Canerdy of New Harmony, Chuck and Lou Ann Kidd of Ellistown, Charlie and Tina McCollum of Verona, and Perry King of Hickory Flat. Her great-grandparents are Christine and the late Floyce Gaines of New Harmony, Carolyn Adams of New Albany, the late James (Billy) Kidd of New Albany, Bro.
