  • Garrisons celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary

    J.C. and Ann Garrison of New Albany celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary on May 1, 2009. An anniversary reception will be given in their honor by their children Felicia Guzman and husband Luis of Fort Worth, TX; Clint Garrison and wife Sandra of Myrtle; Teresa Smith and husband David of New Albany; and Angela Page and husband Brad of West Union.

    The reception will be held at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in New Albany on Saturday, May 30, 2009, from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. All friends and family are invited.

     

  • The Rutledges united on April 25

    Shirley Knighton and Robert Rutledge, both of Union County Health and Rehab, New Albany, MS, were united in marriage on April 25, 2009, at the facility. The Rev. Kerry Powell officiated. The couple exchanged vows before an antique brass arch decorated with white netting and spring flowers. Antique brass stands, holding baskets of ferns flanked each side of the arch. The drive and facility walkway was decorated with huge urns holding ferns and hanging petunias accented with white bows. eeeeThe bride is the daughter of the late Mr.  & Mrs. Fred McMillen of Ingomar.

  • Birth of Briley McKenna Stout

    Keri (Grisham) and Corey Stout of New Albany, Miss. welcomed daughter Briley McKenna Stout into the world on March 20, 2009 at 9:21 a.m. at North Mississippi Medical Center Women's Hospital in Tupelo, Miss. She weighed 6 pounds, 12 ounces and was 18.5 inches long. Briley is the granddaughter of Joyce and John Grisham of New Albany, Frances and Eddie Coltharp of Myrtle, Miss., and Cynthia and David Stout of New Albany.

     

  • Birth of Colbert "Cole" Guy Coffey

    Tracie and Trent Coffey of Myrtle welcomed son Colbert “Cole” Guy Coffey into the world on February 2, 2009 at 3:14 at the Baptist Memorial Hospital – Union County in New Albany, Miss. He weighed 6 pounds, 12 ounces and was 20 inches long. He was greeted by his sister Lydia Lynn Coffey. Cole is the grandson of Twanda and Ken Colbert of Myrtle, Larry and Ann Coffey of Etta, and Caroline Coffey of Tupelo. His great-grandparents are Mary Lee Hale and Virginia Guthrie of Myrtle, Maveline Coffey of Etta, and Inez Fleming of Tupelo.

  • Tutor, Magruder to wed May 16

    Mr. and Mrs. Richard Keith Tutor of New Albany are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter, Merrill Lynn Tutor of Oxford to Joshua Alexander Magruder also of Oxford, son of Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Neil Magruder of Brandon, Miss., formerly of Florence, SC.

    Merrill is the granddaughter of Ms. Bobbie Thompson of New Albany and the late Mr. Carl Thompson of Myrtle, Miss. and the late Mr. and Mrs. Donald Keith Tutor of the Ingomar community.

  • Birth of Zion Listenbee

    Zeke Listenbee and Cintia Listenbee of Canton, N.C. welcomed son Zion Magalhaes Listenbee into the world on April 29, 2009 at 9:18 a.m. He weighed 6 pounds and he's 19 and 1/5 inches long. He is the grandson of Frank and Linda Listenbee of New Albany and Jose and Sueli Furtado of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

     

  • Waldron, Tate to wed May 16

    Randle and Joyce Waldron of Thaxton are proud to announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter Amanda Lynn Waldron of Thaxton to Byron Cole Tate of Myrtle. Waldron is the granddaughter of the late James and Irene Williams, the late Elmer and the late Lucille Waldron, all of Thaxton. She is a 2007 graduate of North Pontotoc High School, where she received special honors. She is currently employed as an aide at Dogwood Plantation Assisted Living. The prospective groom is the son of Jimmy and Gayle Tate of Myrtle.

  • Birth of Cayden Hunter Hogue

    Jennifer and Jaysen Hogue of New Albany welcomed Cayden Hunter Hogue into the world on January 27, 2009 at 2:47 p.m. at the North Mississippi Medical Center Women's Hospital in Tupelo, Miss. He weighed 6 pounds, 7 ounces and was 18 ½ inches long. He is the grandson of Dr. and Mrs. Terry Joslin and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Hogue, both of New Albany.

     

  • Birth of Mason Alexander Hood

    Kerri and Brandon Hood of New Albany welcomed son Mason Alexander Hood into the world on March 3o, 2009 at 7:38 p.m. at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Union County in New Albany, Miss. He weighed 7 pounds, 13 ounces and she was 21 inches long. He is the grandson of David and Penny Floyd of Ripley, Tena Cordova of New Albany, Gordon Hood of New Albany, Betty and the late Raymond Burch of Myrtle, Trenton Hood of Memphis, Tenn., and Carolyn Flannigan of Illinois. His great-grandparents are Lenore and the late Jean Floyd of Ripley and the late Della and the late Harvey Newby of Blue Mountain.

  • Birth of Kobe James Kirk

    Laura Dault and Brandon Kirk  of Jackson, Tenn. welcomed son Kobe James Kirk into the world on December 20, 2008 at 4:13 p.m. at Jackson General Hospital in Jackson, Tenn. Brandon is formerly of Myrtle and Laura is formerly of Linville, Tenn. Kobe weighed 7 pounds, 13 ounces and was 20 inches long. He is the grandson of Tim and Rhonda Pennington of Myrtle, Joey and Diane Kirk of Mantachie, and Cindy Dault of Linville, Tenn. Sue Pennington of Macedonia is his great-grandparent.
