  • Barcroft, Cousar to wed April 25

    Ms. Janet Higdon Barcroft of Brentwood, Tenn. and Mr. and Mrs. Coburn Barcroft of McKenzie, TN are pleased to announce the forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Holly Marie to Jason Alan Cousar, son of Alan and Shirley Cousar of New Albany, Miss.  The couple will exchange vows on Saturday, April 25, 2009 at First Baptist Church in Memphis, Tenn. with a reception immediately following at the Nineteenth Century Club. 

  • Wyatt Trace Humphreys was born on February 25, 2009.

    Pamela Elizabeth Humphreys and Edmond Virgil Humphreys III (Trey), both of Blue Springs, welcomed son Wyatt Trace Humphreys into the world on February 25, 2009 at 10:39 a.m. at the North Mississippi Medical Center Women's Hospital in Tupelo, Miss. He weighed 8 pounds, 15 ounces and was 19 ½ inches long. He was greeted by sisters Janna, age 11, and Sallie, age 7. He is the grandson of Eddie and Martha Humphreys of Blue Springs, Miss.

  • Evans, Wilson to wed March 21

    Michael and Cindy Evans of the West Union community are pleased to announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter Jeana Gale Evans of West Union to Joshua Aaron Wilson of Darden.

    The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Thomas and Jean Lewis and Glen and Gale Evans of Macedonia. Jeana graduated from West Union Attendance Center and is currently enrolled at Northeast Mississippi Community College pursuing a degree as a registered nurse.

  • Crowder, Miller to wed April 4

    Corey Crowder of Oxford and Linda Bateman of New Albany announce the engagement and approaching marriage of their daughter, Phyllis Marie Crowder, to Michael Wayne Miller of New Albany.

    Ms. Crowder is the grand-daughter of Frances Burke and the late Malcolm Eugene Burke of Water Valley, and the late William and Thora Crowder of Oxford. Ms.Crowder attended Lafayette High School and Northwest Mississippi Community College.

  • Birth of David Levi Hancock

    Brent Hancock and Kate Williams are pleased to announce the birth of their first born son, David Levi Hancock. He was born on November 20, 2008 at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Union County in New Albany. His grandparents are Mark and Tena Williams, Nanette Hancock and the late David Hancock. His great-grandparents are Freddie and Lavelle Hancock, Gloria McWhirter and the late Jerry McWhirter, Bill and Alyne Medlin, and Ike and Sible Williams. His great-great-grandmother is Mattie Faye Kizer. He is the fifth generation.

     

  • Irene Pannell Read turned 90 years old.

    Irene Pannell Read of the Mound City Community celebrated her 90th birthday on January 22, 2009. Her birthday is January 22, 1919. The place of her birthday party was her son's house, Jim Read of Algoma. The party was hosted by her children Jim and Becky Reed of Algoma, Sandra and Billy Hearn of Pinedale, Jerry and Kathy Reed of Mound City, Paul and Kay Reed of Ellistown, and Phil and Billy Ruth Reed of Baldwyn. There were several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and a great-great-granddaughter.

     

  • The Dumas's celebrated 60 years of marriage.

    Doxey and Peggy Davis of Dumas recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on March 27, 2009. They were originally married on March 27, 1949 in Dumas by Bro. Joe Crawford. The Davis’s children include Stevie (Patsy) Davis of Dumas, Patti (Perry) Wright of Dumas, Greg (Debbie) Davis of Saltillo, and Bryan (Connie) Davis of Ripley. They have nine grandchildren that include Sidra, Shawn, Joey Davis, Randy Wright, Kara Rushing, Cole and Austin Davis, and Candace and Bryana Davis. Five great-grandchildren include Blake, Brent, Brylan, Hannah Davis, and Gavin Rushing.

  • Sadie Childers to be christened

    Jade and Caleb Childers of New Albany are proud to announce the christening of their four-month-old daughter Sadie Elizabeth Childers. She will be christened at 12 p.m. on May 9, 2009 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church with Father Mario Solorzano performing the christening ceremony.

    Sadie has a four-year-old brother named John Brady Childers. Her godparents are Laura Megan Pierce of New Albany and Michael C. James of New Albany.

  • Dodds, Johnson to wed May 16

    Thomas Dodds of Booneville and Helen and Jeff Bonds of Corinth are proud to announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter Jennifer Malynn Dodds to Jeremiah Joseph Johnson. Dodds is the granddaughter of Doug and Billie Watson of Dumas, the late James and Kathryn Dawson of Ingomar, and the late Charles Davis. She is a 2005 graduate of Wheeler High School and a 2009 graduate of University of Mississippi, with a major in English Education. The prospective groom is the son of John and Barbara Johnson of Booneville.

  • Smith, Fitts to wed May 30

    Ray and Elizabeth Smith of New Albany announce the engagement of their daughter Kimberly Nicole Smith to Christopher Adam Fitts, son of Coy and Kim Fitts of Myrtle and Terry and Lori Dowty of New Albany. The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Nathan and CleleMae Smith and James and Merita Bagwell, all of Myrtle. She was a 2006 graduate of Myrtle High School. In 2008, she earned an Associate of Arts degree in Accounting from Itawamba Community College where she was a member of Indian Delegation, Phi Beta Kappa, Student Government, and the Homecoming Court.
