  • Birth of Joshua Nicholas Kyle Bennett

    Cassandra and Larry Bennett of New Albany welcomed Joshua Nicholas Kyle Bennett into the world April 2, 2009 at 12:43 p.m. at the Baptist Memorial Hospital – Union County in New Albany, Miss. He weighed 7 pounds, 11 ounces and was 19 ¾ inches long. Joshua was greeted by his sister Madison Grace Brooke Bennett. He is the grandson of Jack and Barbara Compton of Ripley, Miss., Larry Stroupe of Dry Creek, Miss. and Terri Stroupe of Blue Mountain, Miss. His great-grandparents are the late M. L.

  • Birth of Mante "Maddox" Smith

    Kimberly Jo Perkins of New Albany and Norris Junior Smith (Mante) of Blue Mountain welcomed son Mante “Maddox” Smith into the world on May 12, 2009 at 10:50 a.m. at Baptist Memorial Hospital – Union County in New Albany, Miss. He weighed 7 pounds, 2 ounces and was 18 inches long. Maddox was greeted by brother Tyler Reed Perkins and sister Elizabeth Anne Perkins. He is the grandson of Norris and Carolyn Smith of Blue Mountain and Ricky and Wilma Nolen of New Albany.

  • Birth of Briley McKenna Stout

    Keri (Grisham) and Corey Stout of New Albany, Miss. welcomed daughter Briley McKenna Stout into the world on March 20, 2009 at 9:21 a.m. at North Mississippi Medical Center Women's Hospital in Tupelo, Miss. She weighed 6 pounds, 12 ounces and was 18.5 inches long. Briley is the granddaughter of Joyce and John Grisham of New Albany, Frances and Eddie Coltharp of Myrtle, Miss., and Cynthia and David Stout of New Albany.

  • Ash, Fuller to wed June 13

    Faron and Brenda Ash of Potts Camp, Miss. are proud to announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter Jennifer Ash to James Fuller of Blue Mountain, Miss. The bride-elect is the granddaughter of the late A. W. and Birdie Boren of Potts Camp and Gene Ash of Potts Camp and Martha Canten of Cornersville, Miss. Jennifer is a 2004 graduate of East Union Attendance Center. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education from Blue Mountain College in 2008. She is employed as a Science teacher at Galena Elementary.

  • Birthday of Kierra Nichole Carter

    Kierra Nichole Carter is celebrating her third birthday on June 7, 2009 at 2 p.m. at her Nana's house. Kierra is the daughter of Mendy Carter and Neil Garner, both of New Albany. She is the granddaughter of Kathy and the late James Andrews of Myrtle, Miss. and Dorothy and the late Dwight Garner of New Albany. The party's theme will be a Dora Beach Party. All family and friends are invited.

  • Lara Eley, to wed Samuel Barkley

    Mr. and Mrs. Robert Bulloch Eley of Cleveland, Miss. announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Lara Kathryn Eley, to Samuel Ross Barkley, son of Dr. and Mrs. Thomas Ford Barkley of New Albany, Miss.

    The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Mrs. Mildred Bailey of Cleveland and the late Mr. Ben Townes Bailey, Sr. of Benoit, Miss., and Mrs. Kathryn T. Eley and the late Dr. William A. Eley of Cleveland.

  • Edwards, Stovall to wed June 13

    Mr. and Mrs. Bill and Mitzi Edwards of Columbus, Miss. are proud to announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter Summer Nichole Edwards of Columbus to David Warren Stovall of Red Bay, Alabama. Summer is the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Charlie and Virginia Rodgers and Mr. and Mrs. Jack and Betty Edwards, all of New Albany, Miss. She graduated from New Hope High School in Columbus in 2003. She is a 2006 graduate of Northeast Mississippi Community College (NEMCC) and received her Associates degree in English Literature.

  • Gillespies celebrate 60th anniversary

    Ralph and Doris Gillespie of Blue Springs will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary on January 17, 2009 at the Sherman Church of Christ in the Fellowship Building from 1 – 3 p.m. They were married January 22, 1949 in Tupelo. Their children are Tim and Patricia Holcomb of Ecru, Jeff and Elaine Gillespie of the Endville Community, Frank and Margaret Anderson of Blue Springs,  Mitch and Nancy Brazeal of Saltillo, and Dr. Chuck and Karen Capps of Franklin, Tenn. The Gillespies also have 13 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. The couple requests no gifts.

  • Ensley Cook birth announcement

    Emiley Morgan and Ethan Cook of Tupelo welcomed daughter Ensley Hope Cook into the world on December 22, 2008 at 8:35 p.m. at the Baptist Memorial Hospital – Union County in New Albany. She weighed 5 pounds, 11 ounces and was 18 ½ inches long. Ensley’s grandparents are Rhonda and Harry Morgan and Shawn and Brent Cox, all of Tupelo, Miss. Her great-grandparents are Jack and Francis Wuichet and Marlin and Haylare Morgan, all of Plantersville, Miss. and Joe and Diane Dye of Brewer, Miss. Her great great grandmother is Agatha Crallie of Eldridge, Ala.
